Crashday Redline Edition

This game had been sitting in the back of my mind like a spectre for almost two decades now. I vaguely remember trying it's demo back in 2006ish as a wee lad, then completely forgetting everything about it save for the theme song. Well now the time has finally come and I've gotta say that....I didn't lose much by not playing this until now. Sure the basic idea, the core concept of the gameplay is quite enticing, but the execution is not great. No, I don't care that mods make it slightly better, the base game has to make a good impression first in order to motivate me to even bother trying mods. Since the multiplayer in basically dead in 2023 with the game very self-assuredly telling right into your face on it's server browsing menu that "Yeah right! There are FIVE WHOLE PEOPLE on the entire planet playing this game right now! Whaddaya day to THAT?" your only choice to experience the game at it's fullest is it's single player campaign. A campaign that which at best is 2-3 hours long, but regardless took me more than 6 hours to beat due to all the unpolished bs gameplay mechanics, general RNG and unstable AI (let it be allied or enemy). The keyboard controls are just crap, there I said it. Despite this howewer the gameplay expects absolute precision and if that wouldn't be bad enough almost none of the non-racing challenges can be completed without either dumb luck or finding the one exploit in the level map that makes the otherwise impossible challenges actually beatable. This happened to me more than once and that's just disgusting. What's the point of developing massive outdoor areas if the only way to beat the level is by driving in circles at the northeast corner between 5 or so dirt bumps? At one point I was stuck in a trick score gathering mission for MORE THAN AN HOUR trying to figure out the ideal way to complete it. Like I said apparently the mechanics are also somewhat broken as performing the EXACT SAME FHOCKING jump three times in a now will sometimes grant you a certain amount of score, but then the next time you get 3 times the score you got 10 seconds earlier by doing the exact same thing. Trick chains are also incredibly hard to maintain despite the developers giving you time extensions from real-time vehicle deterioration. They probably suspected that the controls, handling and the general level designs are nowhere near sophisticated enough to warrant such an unforgiving system and this was their compensation attempt, but it's just not enough. The soundtrack is great though.
Don't play this game blindly it's not worth it, petition EA to re-release Burnout 3 instead.
The only reasons I'm not giving this game a thumbs down are the 2000s nostalgia factor and it's music. Cheers.

Played on PC back when i was 8 :D it was the best game for me so far, and after 13 Years i finally got it back.. I never forget the Journey the game gave me, opponents are quite good aswell.. Map creator.. the best thing i was doing... Suffocating enemy spawn as kid XD.. now.. THIS CAME BACK..

Original game was my childhood, nice to play it again. An arcade race game done right, and with a community which has expanded upon the game massively with mods & tools, cars, fun adjustments of gameplay, tracks, entire custom career mods.

Classic game! Totally worth its money 5,00 TL (75% discount)
