After a few post-release patches, Bounty Battle is now playing smoothly. It aims for Smash Bros' simplicity: normal attacks are varied by holding a direction with a button press, special attacks function the same way, and that's it. No combos, no counters, and no secret special moves. The problem is the game couldn't stop itself there. The additional systems are all certainly well-meaning: an energy cost for special attacks to encourage mixing in normal ones, spamming punishments to discourage button mashers, and a bounty system to keep the pressure on whoever is doing the best. Sadly the latter, which the game takes its name from, makes the best case for why these extra systems are superfluous.
First, this is not really a platform fighter. That means there's not a whole lot of chances to go after or ignore any particular opponent. Even if there were, the only thing I used bounty points on during a full playthrough of the game's tournament mode was summoning a minion which barely dented a match's total points. Some character's minions attack, others buff their fighter, and others still debuff opponents. This variety adds to each character's uniqueness and they sound useful, but they also ignore attacks and act at seemly random intervals. This creates a perfect storm of frustration where the player that summoned them can't count on them and other players can't plan around them effectively.
All that said, the only real problem I had with Bounty Battle was confused expectations. Because, quite frankly, I enjoyed all my time playing it once I got used to what it ended up being. With its claustrophobic stage design and the hordes of opponents that get tossed at you during most tournament levels, this game makes a better Beat 'em Up than it does a Fighting game. And that's great considering how the lack of online matchmaking means you'll most likely be playing this one alone.

I've put almost 10 hours into the game which I feel is enough to write a review fairly. So first off yes there is a lot of issues that need to be addressed (the discussions says it all) But! that doesn't mean the game isn't fun. I was able to look the other way with all the issues and actually enjoy the game fully and I have to say it's actually good! A lot of people may not agree with me but i'm not here to argue i'm here to say that this game does have a lot of potential and even though it got released with high expectations for a lot of gamer's and was not delivered at launch does not mean you should look the other away and ignore this game. I realize that the developers are a small crew and that it will take time to address all the known issues but for the mean time I support this game fully. I've enjoyed the content it has at the moment and I am happy I purchased this on day one, this way I can see the game grow and evolve into something even more amazing then it already is! If your hesitant on purchasing the game definitely wish list it and keep an eye out for upcoming updates otherwise I recommend it. Be patient as in time the game will slowly become what everyone wanted.

First things first, i believe this game should be released as an Early Access title, that would save it from lots of trouble.
It has many flaws that i'll point further down in the review but it has space for improvement.
It's biggest attraction & selling point as you can imagine, are the various indie characters from many different games
(Dead Cells, Blasphemous, Awesomenauts, Owlboy, Nuclear Throne, Guacameele and many more).
Pros ~ The Graphics are really neat , characters (at least the ones i know) stay true to the originals while some are improved from their 16/32bit pixel prototypes. Most animations are fine & the music is really a blast (big shout-out to AdhensiveWombat)
Cons ~ Limited modes & No Online , that's a big con for a fighting game nowdays, Remote play won't cover up for it.
Hitboxes & Hit registry get a bit junky here and there (but not to the extend some people on the forums and other reviews claim to be, just watch some videos of the game to judge yourself) , especially on melee moves but nothing game breaking and/or not fixable.
Needs better super/special moves. There is a plethora of stages but no special interactions or great variety in them other than the changing backgrounds. And lastly I should also mention the lack of KO animations which might seem like just the icing but still would be great to implement.
The developers have stated that this is their first game, they're active on the forums and seemingly trying to improve the game. Don't know if this is the right place to bring this up, but at game's launch, which is relatively close to the time I'm writing this, I've seen many insulting posts, comments & reviews towards BB which really saddened me. And yeah, all these mechanics are recycled & seen before but same goes for thousands of games and most of those get sugar coated so why all the hate here?
So, to close this review,I shall leave a thump up for the simple reason that i had fun & enjoyed playing it with all its flaws,
& cause i really believe that devs are willing to improve their game.
Kind Regards

I would recomend it for people who enjoy indie titles and games that look good. I want to see this game do well and I am sure it well. Besides, it might not be a great game right now, but this was the first project of these devs. Im sure they would wanna try and make their first game as fun as they can.
But I would give this a solid 6/10. Its got a lot of potential though and I support it. Even if right now its not the greatest game ever.

Gameplay is awful and half of the modes don't even work properly with my xbox controller and a quarter of the roster is made up of OCs, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that intro cutscene was hype AF.

In contrast of the other reviews I liked this game.
Specially the wide choice of all the heroes is very cool. I liked the art style of the fight levels.
Maybe one thing I think that could be better are the superpowers. Those are not that special.
All after all Bounty Battle is a decent fighting game, but the choice of the many heroes gives something special to this game.
Also I think the game has a fair price.
Here is an example of the gameplay:

Great fighting game and a lot of fun playing it. An incredible set of characters, plenty of visual fx. You can't be wrong if you like the "Super Smash Bros" genre on console :)
I strongly recommend it!
