Blood will be Spilled
Blood will be Spilled is a narrative spaghetti western platformer with tactical turn-based combat, taking place in a completely hand drawn harsh world inhabited by insects. You follow the story of Jack – a mosquito bounty hunter, on his path of revenge. Soon however, he finds himself neck-deep in a vicious scheme that is far more than he bargained for. Heavily outgunned and outnumbered, Jack will need help from a few rather unusual allies to even the odds.. And most of all shallow graves for all those who would stand in his way. Hunt them down, make them pay In the land with no laws, you have to track down gang members and bring them to justice, dead or alive. Shoot straight and count your bullets In the strategic turn-based shootouts, make sure that you are the last insect standing. The Good, the Bad or the Ugly You see, there are three kinds of people in the world – use your unique set of skills fueled by blood of your enemies.

A terrific looking and sounding game, with nice narrative that is (unfortunately) marred severely by bugs (and by this I don't mean "insects", which the characters in Blood Will Be Spilled are). I cannot fathom why the devs didn't try harder to fix the game and "tighten up the screws" so to speak, but it certainly shows potential for some future installments to improve upon already great (yet, again, bugged) formula of light platforming and neat turn-based combat. The visuals are 10/10, very nicely drawn and conceptualized. The world, albeit not much explained in-game, is just brimming with untapped potential (primarily due to this game being a work of just a handful of developers - guess they were trying to punch above their weight, and that this is why the game is a flawed gem).
Since the main programmer left the team (and rightly so, judging by how incompetent he coded the game), the devs are currently unable to move forward with a sequel, despite there being an after-credits cliffhanger that opens path for making one. I hereby put a positive review, in good faith that Doublequote Studio will make a sequel down the line, and make a great successor to this ambitious (yet flawed) first entry.
