How to Stay Hidden in Aliens: Dark Descend

Stealth mechanics play an important role in the gameplay of Aliens: Dark Descend. If you engage in direct confrontations with xenomorphs too frequently, their numbers can increase significantly, making the game more challenging. To avoid complicating your progress, you can follow our recommendations.

Monitor the Detection Bar

To determine whether your character has been detected or not, keep an eye on the "detection" bar in the upper right corner of the screen. If you have just entered an enemy's line of sight, the detection bar will turn yellow. From this moment, you have a short amount of time before you are noticed. You can take advantage of this delay to move out of the enemy's line of sight. If you don't make it in time, the bar will turn red, and xenomorphs will attack you. The time it takes for the detection bar to fill up depends on the selected difficulty level. The higher the difficulty, the quicker you will be detected.

Avoid Making Noise

Any actions that create noise will attract additional enemies. Not only will their numbers increase, but their aggression will also rise. To ensure a smoother gameplay experience, try to eliminate enemies quietly or avoid encounters altogether.

Hide in Rooms

By looking at the map, you can identify green shelter icons. Entering these rooms allows you to reduce your heroes' stress levels or wait out enemy patrols. Create your safe space by simply entering the room and sealing the door.

Utilize the Environment

You can hide your teammates behind environmental objects, reducing the chances of being detected. Note that not all objects can serve as cover. Heroes will be harder to spot only if they crouch behind objects highlighted in green.

Apply Resourcefulness

You can avoid direct confrontations by using turrets and motion sensors. Motion sensors will alert you to approaching enemies, while turrets divert their attention. By employing this tactic, you can bypass a significant number of aliens.

How to Use Stealthy Ranged Kills

In the game, only silent long-range kills are available. However, don't expect to use this from the beginning of the game. First, you need to level up the Scout class. To do this, acquire Infantry at level 3 and choose the Scout class.

Once you have the Scout, equip them with the necessary gear. To do this, unlock the weapon suppressor in the upgrades. This will cost you 30 materials. Placing the suppressor in the upgrade slot will allow your weapon to fire silently. But don't get too excited—a single accurate silent shot consumes one command point. Regular enemies can be taken down with one precise shot to the head, while attempting to kill a stronger xenomorph inflicts significant damage on it.
