A decent puzzle-platformer.
It reminded me of the FREE game "Burning Daylight" that followed a similar bleak story.
I have not played "LIMBO" or "INSIDE" yet, but a lot of people compare them to this game.
Limbo and Inside do not own the entire puzzle-platformer genre and are not the default standard! Curb your expectations.
Black The Fall was made by an indie developer, so naturally it can't compete with big names.
The game delivers a bleak atmosphere, easy to challenging puzzles and a linear short story. The game is very cheap, cheaper when bought in bundles but worth trying out if you like the genre.
The only faults that come to mind are:
1) Some puzzles are agility based and will require some skill and timing, which some non-true-gamers have difficulties with.
2) The platforming parts of the puzzles are somewhat clumsy but can be solved through trial and error.
3) "Black: The Fall" is a stupid name for a game and doesn't make any sense. They should've gone all in on the naming like: "Reckoening Dawn of Revengeance Catalyst Turbo 3000" pffhaha.
4) The worst offender though, in my opinion, is the entire take on Communism. It is unrealistically portrayed as depressing dystopia as presented by Western propaganda. The entire take is just too shallow... We all know it is not that simple. The atmosphere is more like post-soviet or countries that were under the thumb of communist USSR which makes sense as these countries were basically "conquered". Conquered places have never been happy. This game was made by Romanians about communist occupancy and seen through their nostalgic view to capture the "feel and vibe" of that era but is just too overplayed. I hate communism as any other, but this display is just too shallow.
"Black: The Fall" what a stupid name haha. "Black" what? The over-usage of shadows to hide the indie incompetence?
Shallow game with stupid name, but atmospheric, short and cheap.

A game with the same platforming style, dystopian vision and dark humour of LIMBO and INSIDE.
The brutal, mechanical world is boldly brought to life through the graphics, the puzzle set-pieces are plausible, the robot buddy you meet along the way is charming. And every so often, if you're not paying attention to the cues you're given, you'll be splattered by giant robots patrolling in the background. It's fun. But the ending is somewhat abrupt; it doesn't feel like you planned to do that when you set out that day, it's just how the developers made the game end.
Overall, it's entertaining for a few hours.

It's a puzzle game that's a around 3.25 hours long for 100% achievements. It's got some interesting puzzles and I enjoyed the environment. It can be a little buggy. When you die, because you will, it's very forgiving and has a chapter select to replay certain parts and get missing achievements.
I wouldn't give a thumbs up if I had paid $15 for this game. I got it on sale and it was worth the price if you enjoy puzzle games. Keep in mind this game is likely 1.5 to 5 hours depending on your problem solving abilities and how many bugs you encounter.
