The wait is over! Rash, Zitz and Pimple are returning at last to smash-hit their way through an all-new action-packed adventure of choreographed chaos, and couch co-op may never be the same again. 1-3 players will take control of the Battletoads and team up to storm through wild and unpredictable stages with only one rule – expect the unexpected. Teamwork makes the dream work in a drop-in, drop-out gameplay blast, filled with over-the-top gameplay moments that anyone can enjoy, but only a True ‘Toad’ can master. With a unique hand-animated cartoon style and packed with memorable characters and locations, the Battletoads are back for a larger-than-life brawl across the universe that promises to be fun alone, and unforgettable together.

I'm not going to lie, the game isn't bad at all, it's actually a very good game but I was still hoping for a slightly more classic experience,
there is certainly a lot of variation in the game in terms of levels and type of gameplay and you will notice this quickly stage after stage, but if the game had been finished with a slightly lower cartoon content, I might have been able to experience it closer to the classic battletoad games places.
Watch a snippet of gameplay here:
Battletoads does a lot of things visually well and then it doesn't, but the game is therefore very accessible for all ages. As a result, the game is not too difficult and easily digestible, but the game will still feel very repetitive after long play sessions and it is therefore advisable to play the game in short bursts. Battletoads is therefore a nice game, even if only for a while.

Alright. I know this didnt go over well with most fans, but honestly, I didnt think it was that bad. Its not great, but on sale, sure, give it a shot.
First. This is not a reboot. It is technically a sequel as the game is self-aware that the Toads havent had a game in like 26 years. The vibe and tone of the game is a PG-13 Saturday morning cartoon. Different than the gross-out 90s edge humor the series started with, but there are moments where it was actually pretty funny. If anything, the cutscenes are fun.
As for the gameplay, it is kinda close to the original game. Beat em up sections broken up by gameplay sequences that have nothing to do with beat em ups. The NES game had the rappelling, air bikes, snake riding, and monowheel. This had its fair share of Not Beat Em Up minigames. I do think they lasted a bit longer than they should have, but it is what it is.
This wasnt the Battletoads update everyone wanted, but to be completely honest, the Toads' games were never super amazing to begin with. They were style over substance and were way too hard for their own good. Play this and just go along for the ride. If they make a sequel to this I hope they focus on the combat like the arcade game rather than the minigame shenanigans.
Pick this up on sale.

A decent beat 'em up, but some of the minigames were pretty bad.

The game is great, it's definitely one I'm going to keep playing
If you're a fan of streets of rage and double dragon and TMNT shredder's revenge then you'll definitely love this game

Good reboot, very funny. The quality lives up to my expectations. It shows a different charm to the rest of the franchise, but it still works. Controls are fairly smooth, but a nightmare to play on keyboard. Use a controller to play this game.

This game is fine. It's a good time if you got a controller. The reduced difficulty helps, and it doesn't take itself too seriously. I'm annoyed what they did with the Dark Queen, but that's about it. I can't really think of a reason you shouldn't play this. Other than (of course) the lack of online co-op. As I'm typing this, it's on sale until May 4th. The cartoony visuals, the way playing and switching between the crew feels smooth, the good music, the 'Toads have actual character, there ARE reasons to like this game. Is it superior to the original? Not really, but this game and the original are a different beast to me. Would I play another one? I might, if only to see what they would do with it. Give this game a fair chance.

Super cool sequel to a favorite childhood game. It'd be even cooler if they added online considering there's already a built in co-op system, it seems like they missed out with that idea.
