The upgrade from 2D to a 3D build really puts a new dimension in the game.
Never though a mobile game would work well in VR, but here we are. Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs is a neat VR version of the old mobile game. I feels quite the same as the older games. You have some bird and you wanna kill some pigs. You still got to think about what angle to shoot the birds, but now you also have to think from what direction to land the attack. The 3D builds are nicely made so that the best attack isnt always from the front.
The game is simple in it design. You pull back the slingshot and try to topple the building. You get a variety of birds to do so. However, not every bird from the mobile game has been added to the VR version. Only 4 from the 10 birds appear in the game. That's a bit of a shame. The game is still a lot of fun though.
The game has 8 level groups with each 13 levels. If those 104 official levels are not enough, you can also get into the player made levels. There is plenty to shoot at.

I really loved this game and it was really fun on VR! I did experience minor bugs but i thinks it's more due to the VR itself. Highly recommend this one <3

Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs, developed and published by Resolution Games, successfully reimagines the beloved Angry Birds franchise within the immersive environment of virtual reality. Released in early 2019, the game transports players from the familiar 2D slingshot action into a vibrant, three-dimensional island world filled with creative puzzles and interactive environments. This shift to VR not only refreshes the core gameplay but also offers an engaging new perspective, where players physically move around, adjust their viewpoints, and become active participants in the destruction of piggy fortresses.
The gameplay remains true to the original series’ formula, tasking players with launching birds—each equipped with unique abilities—at structures to topple them and defeat the green pigs who have stolen the eggs. However, the VR format introduces a heightened sense of presence and interactivity. Players can physically lean in to better aim their shots, move around the level to assess different angles, and immerse themselves in the environment in ways impossible in traditional versions. This physical engagement adds a tactile dimension to the game, making each shot feel more deliberate and satisfying. The game cleverly balances the classic casual appeal of Angry Birds with the immersive depth of VR, creating an experience that is accessible yet fresh and exciting.
Visually, Isle of Pigs embraces the franchise’s signature bright, cartoonish art style, but enhanced with rich 3D detail and vibrant colors that bring the island setting to life. The various environments—ranging from sunny beaches and dense forests to snowy slopes—are intricately designed, each presenting unique challenges that require different strategies to overcome. The dynamic lighting and spatial audio further contribute to the atmosphere, making the world feel lively and immersive. This attention to detail keeps the gameplay visually engaging and helps maintain a sense of discovery as players progress through over a hundred handcrafted levels.
One of the standout features of Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs is its level builder, which was introduced after launch and significantly extends the game’s longevity. This creative tool empowers players to design, share, and play custom levels, fostering a vibrant community of creators. The user-generated content adds tremendous replay value and variety, as players can continuously explore fresh challenges beyond the developer-made stages. The level editor exemplifies the developer’s commitment to community engagement and enhancing player creativity, ensuring that the game remains dynamic and engaging long after the initial campaign is completed.
Critically, the game has been well-received for its clever integration of VR mechanics with the beloved Angry Birds formula. Reviewers and players alike have praised its intuitive controls, charming presentation, and the new level of immersion VR brings to the franchise. Some players have noted occasional difficulty spikes or moments where the physicality required by VR can be challenging, but these issues are generally outweighed by the game’s strengths. The accessible design makes it suitable for a broad audience, from casual gamers looking for lighthearted fun to VR enthusiasts eager for innovative gameplay experiences.
In summary, Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs is a successful and enjoyable VR adaptation that breathes new life into a classic franchise. It combines familiar mechanics with immersive technology to create a fresh, interactive puzzle experience that is both charming and engaging. Its rich visuals, thoughtful level design, and robust community features make it a standout title for anyone interested in virtual reality gaming or the Angry Birds universe. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the series, Isle of Pigs offers a compelling reason to pick up a VR headset and dive into the colorful chaos of the Angry Birds world like never before.
