Ancestors Legacy
Take command of your army as you storm through medieval Europe in an extensive series of campaigns. Choosing one of the four available nations – Viking, Anglo-Saxon, German, Slav – you will be tasked with more than just conquering, raiding and pillaging enemy camps, villages and towns. Only by utilizing the full range of available tactical options, taking strategic advantage of the environment, and managing your temporary bases and settlements, will you emerge victorious. Ancestors Legacy is a history-inspired real-time strategy game influenced by historical events in the Middle Ages. The game combines resource management and base building with large-scale, squad-based battles across vast battlefields, all rendered in great detail thanks to the Unreal Engine 4 tech. Experience medieval bloodshed like never before, thanks to the cinematic action camera that puts you right in the middle of the battle at the press of a button.

Game is a good RTS but not a base builder as you don't pick where you building goes.
Graphic are good.
Story is good with good voice over. Plenty of content. You have 5 missions per hero. 2 hero per "factions". That's 40 missions from base game. I didn't play skirmish or Multiplayer. Neither do I own the DLC.
Gameplay is ok. Some frustrating stuff though. No auto fire when the unit get attacked. The friendly fire (so bad)
Cannot rotate the camera. it was a design choice but not a good one. Sometimes you cannot see very well.
Some mission are really hard and not always in a good way. Stealth is good but I have zero patience. So I failed it haha.
Finally, Don't underestimate the Traps. This is the real MVP of the game

Ancestors Legacy is a great real-time strategy game that really stands out. I’m not sure how historically accurate the storylines are, but each faction’s campaign is well-written, fun, and engaging. The missions are cleverly designed, gradually revealing different parts of the map as you progress through objectives adds a strong narrative flow to each level.
The gameplay mechanics are also a highlight. Stealth and ambush tactics actually make a difference, and environmental modifiers like weather and fog of war add meaningful variation and depth to combat. I haven't encountered any bugs that disrupted my experience, which is always a big plus.
One mechanic I especially liked is how units lock into combat. It punishes poor macro-management in a way that feels fair and encourages more strategic thinking, something that sets it apart from other RTS games like Age of Empires.
While I’d love to give it a perfect score, I believe there’s always room for improvement in any game. So for me, Ancestors Legacy earns a solid 9/10. It's a must-play for any RTS fan.

Pretty good RTS. Mainly focuses on small squads to battle your enemy and has a bit of a chess vibe in the sense that you have to counter match your enemies units carefully and quickly. Great setting and atmosphere as well as it having a wonderful cinematic camera...lots of fun and challenging for sure.
gameplay - 7/10
graphics - 7/10
AI - 8/10
story - 5/10
machanics - 8/10
Voice acting -5/10
Voice acting for the vikings is a bit off-putting with American accents but i try overlook it...still a decent game though.

Hard difficulty for the campaigns (which i respect), and overall fast paced fun

An interesting strategy, especially after watching the series about the Middle Ages. Definitely worth playing, very cool animations, plot and mechanics of the game. It is clear that they made the game with love.

I like this game a lot. You get about what you'd expect from a medieval RTS, both the good and the bad.
There's a lot of story content to go through, especially if you get the DLC. Most missions are fairly straight forward and not particularly challenging. That said, there were a few major battles that cranked things up a notch, usually towards the end of each campaign. These battles helped tremendously to payoff some of the less stimulating content leading up to them. Voice-acting could be better and you do have to go through the faction campaigns in a certain order, but I didn't mind that as much as others have.
In terms of the actual mechanics, it's pretty simple. There isn't a lot of unit variety so you'll pick things up pretty fast. Each faction has a couple different types of infantry, ranged, or cavalry units that perform largely the same in principle. However, the factions themselves have various strengths and weaknesses that alter the performance of those units. Furthermore, each faction has a different hero unit with unique abilities that help tie things together and can outright win a skirmish if used well. Timing and resource management will be very important. Infantry can take awhile to reach the fight and better units with upgraded armor aren't cheap. The AI will easily outproduce you if you aren't careful, so be prepared to fend off a lot of attacks on your base and resource nodes if you prefer the slow methodical approach.
My favorite aspect of the game is the level of immersion as a battle progresses. Bodies and gore remain on the field, so you quite literally see the cost laid out in front of you. This can cause a bit of a performance hit in matches that drag on as you might have hundreds of bodies on the field by the end of it. Otherwise, I haven't had many issues with bugs or performance.
Perhaps the biggest issue you will come across is that unit pathing can be a bit frustrating at times. This problem is exacerbated on certain maps that have winding roads or verticality (think curved path up a mountain). You'll notice that troops might go around their asses to get to their elbows, causing them to be late to the party or miss it altogether. This can lead to some micromanaging at times, but really only becomes frustrating on certain maps in my experience. I would pay particular attention to siege units because they're incredibly slow, so it sucks to lose them because they took a dangerous route.
Overall, I think the game is well worth it, especially considering the complete edition often goes on sale for less than $10. I highly recommend the DLC because the Saracens are really fun to play with (not so much against lol). The Saracen Grenadiers are very strong, but not without a counter as their range is rather limited and they're pretty squishy (they also love friendly fire). Plus the assassin units are really cool, albeit difficult to use at times.
There's far more than $5.10 of content here (Winter Sale price), so you can't really go wrong if you're interested. I've really enjoyed my time going through the various campaigns, not to mention the battles I've had with and against my friends have been a blast. My final piece of advice is do not play a match where everyone on your team picks Germany as they start off incredibly slow and are expensive to get going. Trust me, you do not want to see how desperate that can get for you.

(Pros)
- Great graphics
- Interesting stories with historical inspiration.
- Stories are not too long or too tedious.
- Not too many bugs, plays well.
(Cons)
- Sometimes saving a new game does not work.
- Restarting or loading a game often replays the mission video and it takes too long to skip.
- Peasants wont stop running around in terror even long after an attack, kinda annoying.
- Very limited army capacity and size.
(Overall)
- A decent quick game.
- Cheap.
- It can be a decent introduction to strategy gaming.
- Some battle can be super hard but once you figure a few things out nothing is hard to get past.
Rating solid 6.9 out of 10.
