Agony is a first-person, survival horror set in the depths of hell. You will begin your journey as a tormented soul, remembering nothing from your past life. By exploring the hostile environment and interacting with other tormented souls, you will soon understand that the only one way to escape from Hell is through the mystical Red Goddess. The special ability to control people on your path, and even possess simple minded demons, gives you the necessary measures to survive in the extreme conditions.

Had a great time with this. I did come across a few bugs, so don't expect it to be perfect, but I didn't experience anything particularly game breaking. The story is laid out through notes you find which I guess are written by your character? It's not clear. Expect them to be offensive, they're written by someone who's in Hell for a reason. I played the game with all settings at ultra and had no frame drops that other people are claiming. No janky movements, no large hitboxes. It's just not AAA polished. Not a big deal.
My progression got stuck once in a while as the way forward is sometimes unclear, but I mostly didn't mind because I enjoyed the environments so much. I got through the game without any maps or looking anything up. I do suggest setting your Fate Lines to unlimited, which is like Dead Space's locator system.
The lush hellish environments and atmosphere are where the game really shines and makes it worth playing. There's so much detail it's hard to not get distracted and killed taking it all in. There were so many moments when I would just stop to slowly look around, especially in outside environments, and seeing the clouds, tornadoes, and giant monsters in the far off distance. I live streamed this game and could not stop gushing about the world I was seeing. I loved it so much.
If you're a fan of surreal apocalyptic worlds, black metal, Event Horizon, you really need to play this.

very underrated game, which is super imaginative, never boring, level design is great, every location feels unique, TONS of secrets to find, plenty of endings, and succubus mode is better than playing an alien in AvP.
the Unrated version is even better, but this one is playable and fixed too, it is just not as polished as Unrated

I'd recommend only If you like hellscapes and on sale, as I was occasionally getting stuck on something and as old as this game is, it should not be an issue, especially if you can't fight back. The game has a tiny bit of sneaking, mostly at the start, and a lot of walking. The only real reason I own this game was because it was in a bundle, these walking games are not that fun in my eyes, but it held my attention till the end.
However, I think this game's recommendation rating should be higher than mixed, it's not like it hides what it is, or at least I didn't think so. I played it and got exactly what I expected game play wise.
