Age of Empires® III (2007)
Effective September 1, 2021, the multiplayer service for the 2007 version of Age of Empires III: Complete Collection currently on Steam will no longer function. The critical factor driving this change is that the ESO domain on which this multiplayer service currently resides is no longer under Microsoft’s control and it will be repurposed by its new owners on that date.
To continue accessing the multiplayer services: We have created a patch that points to a new backend owned by Microsoft that you must manually install prior to September 1, 2021. Due to the age of the title, we have no way to automatically apply the patch for you and you will have to come to our website download linked below to apply the patch manually. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
The AgeIIIESOPatch_Full will allow you to access multiplayer services without routing through the deprecated ESO service. It is important to install the patch for additional stability and reliability in the multiplayer environment and avoid issues accessing multiplayer matches. Download and install the patch manually from the official ageofempires.com website: yourself in the award-winning strategy experience. Microsoft Studios brings you three epic Age of Empires III games in one monumental collection for the first time. Command mighty European powers looking to explore new lands in the New World; or jump eastward to Asia and determine the outcome of its struggles for power.

It's a great, timeless classic.
Don't go and buy the "definitive edition," thinking you will get an updated spin on this classic game. The "remaster" fundamentally changes the game and tampers with its legacy. If the "definitive edition" was so great, why did Microsoft up the price of the classic while heavily discounting their "improved" version?
PS: Also, it looks like they went and seemingly removed pricing history on AoE 3 Classic, so people don't notice that it used to be sold for a lot cheaper. I bought this game before December 2022 for way less money without it being on sale, however there is now no pricing history for steam before that date.

For all people who do not know where to get a CD key.
Here's how I solved the problem:
Right click on aoe3 in your steam bib -> manage -> CD keys
Steam will, hopefully, show you your key for aoe 3

Good, but AoE2 and AoE4 definitely better than this one, at least for someone who isn't a fan of early modern period.

Asian Umpires 3 is alright, but Definitive Edition lets you play as the AMERICAN EMPIRE and is clearly the better version. Still, this one has its charm. No idea why this old version's still retailing for $40...

This is a great refresh on the series after substantial lag from AEII to this. Upgraded graphics, unit control, and combat are all excellent over the admittedly grainy original. The campaign is more episodic with clear ties over the eras presented. The somewhat unfortunate trade off here is the campaign has become a bit campy, with somewhat cartoonish graphics and more elements of an RPG-type story line rather than an empire building RTS. That said, still an excellent overall game, and one that is worthy of multiple replays.

Age of Empires 3 was a good game. I bought this way back in the day when it originally released and got a lot of good time out of it.
There is now the Definitive Edition you can pick up of this game that has improved or remastered graphics.
7/10 - A old Classic Real Time Strategy game.
