Minoria
Minoria is the latest and most ambitious game from Bombservice, and a spiritual sequel to the Momodora series, from the same studio. Fans of Momodora will find familiar aspects in the design and gameplay elements, as they master the ins-and-outs of parries, dodges, and a variety of different spells. The presentation has evolved to an HD format, with aesthetics mixing 2D hand-painted backgrounds and cel-shaded characters. The story takes place during the fourth Witch War. It is a time of fanatical religious fervor. The Sacred Office, a powerful organization leading an Inquisition against heresy, purges the sinners who threaten humanity. Those responsible for conducting a mysterious ceremony that contradicts the rules of the Church are labeled “witches.” Set forth with Sisters Semilla and Fran, missionaries in the Church’s service, on their journey to thwart the witches’ ceremony and protect the common-folk from heresy that endangers the status quo.

I got Minoria because someone on Reddit said that this was a 'slept on Metroidvania'. Although I now disagree with that statement, it's still a relatively fun short Metroidvania that was relatively simple to 100% complete. I'm going to use it to get my family further into Metroidvanias with the goal of getting them to complete the Hollow Knight games.
Overall, it's fun, a bit of a slow start, but once you get all the movement abilities you feel more free. It is funny to find out that cat pouncing everywhere is the fastest way to move.... It's worth the price when it's on sale, so grab it on discount if you can.
Don your nun outfit for a day and slay some witches! 6.5/10

As a big fan of rdein games, I've completed all of the Momodora games at 100%. So, I was eagerly awaiting Minoria, its "spiritual successor." I must say, I wasn't disappointed! Minoria is a classic Metroidvania game that involves backtracking and,. for the first time in the series, you can level up by gaining experience from defeated enemies! The game has no difficulty settings, and it's not hard to finish, especially if you like gaining experience to become powerful before facing bosses. One thing everyone should know (which the game reveals after you defeat the first boss) is that, as in other Momodora games, you get unique weapons and spells if you defeat the bosses without taking any damage! My advice is to approach the bosses with this mindset to experience the game's only real challenge. The trophies are simple, and there's a New Game+ mode that makes unlocking the alternate ending easier when you play through the game a second time. I especially recommend this game to those new to Metroidvanias because it's a medium-difficulty game with a unique plot that doesn't require knowledge of other games (although there are some nods to fans of the Momodora series).

Really basic metroidavania, shallow story, but fun for about eight hours, learn the dodge/ parry curve and it will be accessible.

Very much a "decent" game. Combat's fun and the art and atmosphere are good. It often teeters on mediocrity, but with its short runtime it doesn't overstay its welcome and finishes as a worthwhile experience.

Quite fun, albeit, pretty short and simple. I enjoyed the plot and the characters to it, even if there wasn't a ton, and the gameplay while on the simple side I found to be pretty fun? Not the hardest game, nor the most in depth, but I feel for a simple 4 to 5 hour metroidvania, it's perfectly fine. Maybe a bit pricey for the length and amount of stuff to do, but it's still a pretty good time I'd say. Just, maybe get it on sale? But I will say, the soundtrack was the best part. Soundtrack and art style.

If you’ve played Momodora, you’ll find yourself on relatively familiar ground. Minoria feels like a clear evolution of what came before, keeping many of the same ideas while refining them into a more polished experience.
I really liked the art direction. It doesn’t have that generic “Unity-made” look that a lot of indie games fall into. The music is also pretty nice and pleasant throughout.
The combat is very similar to Momodora, with skills or healing abilities that you can equip, plus two passive charm slots that give you stats or other bonuses while equipped. I would’ve liked to have three slots for effects, as well as a few more upgrades for the healing system, but overall, the gameplay works well.
The story is generic, but that doesn’t make it a bad Metroidvania. It’s relatively short, and the difficulty is definitely above average. If you’ve played Ender Lilies or Ender Magnolia, you probably know exactly what I mean. It’s challenging without being completely unreasonable.
Don’t expect Minoria to revolutionize the genre—it absolutely doesn’t. What it does, however, is deliver a solid, fun, and challenging Metroidvania experience.
Give it a shot. You’ll get around 5–6 hours of gameplay on a casual playthrough, and there are two endings. The downside is that getting the other ending means replaying the game, which can feel a little tedious.
The postgame also adds a couple of extra things to do such as a enemies rush + final boss fight, which is a nice bonus.

Recomendado!

Good game, and if you've followed the Momodora series, this one is a huge lore drop. Most people see it as just another Metroidvania, but Bombservice has always done more than that. Follow Kaho's journey in (Reverie Under the Moonlight), then experience (Moonlit Farewell) with Momo and you'll realize just how much worldbuilding has been happening beneath the surface.
Minoria isn't part of the same universe, but it carries many of the same themes and storytelling style, making it feel like a spiritual companion to the series.
I love this franchise because of those subtle undertones. Playing it just because it's a Metroidvania is like expecting water to taste like soda, you'll miss what makes it special.
