Got into playing this game due to its offering- magic and guns. The hype died down at around 30% of the game when the "rinse and repeat" formula took effect. Played for 40+ hours and still wondering why I did that.
Main Story is good. You get to experience a unique story in an open world filled with monsters and betrayals. The MC though, is another thing entirely. There were times when I wished that they should go jump off a nearby cliff (tried, does not work due to the game's strict "No Jumping" policy). Sometimes they are just dumber than a rock. I am gonna leave it at that.
Game-play is enjoyable. You get to choose what you want to be- a dull magician with sick moves, a slow warrior with quick rolls or a crazed trickster (not actually but I call it that because you set traps in plain-sight and "trick" the monsters into stepping on it. Trust me bro, it works all the time). You get to use guns on all you build types. Even with all the skills, I always felt something was lacking. In-game currency(money) just exists because it has to.
Visuals are a treat sometimes when the time and place is just right.
Companions cannot be discarded. They stick by you and challenge insurmountable foes just to end up being a dead weight. They charge in with the same battle cries (Siora) that its now giving me nightmares at times. They can be revived, but then the most important question comes to mind... "Why?"
Character models can be better but its not AAA game to go expecting much.
Traversal is a pain. You have to run a lot from one fast travel point to another.
Sounds are surprisingly good. It helps keep the immersion true and has a calming effect.
I played two of the possible outcomes. Both outcomes were duller than expected. Got everyone on board for the finale and then betrayed them like a snake. Sounds intriguing at first but then got disappointed by the little effect it had.
Bugs encountered during the playthrough-
Fell through the world when trying to activate "complex" magic that involves jumping(?huh). Not frequently but depends on the terrain.
The DLC does NOT work (does not trigger after reading the note). Apparently something to do with mods. But people playing without mods have the same issue.
Someone keeps adding stuff into the boxes stored all over the city. Even though it gets repeatedly plundered(by me). Either they are dumb or crazy. Maybe both.
Had plans to try Greedfall 2 but nah. Pass.
Was this experience worth it? Yes. Get it on sale tho.
Re-playable? Yes. But I won't.

The game has the same good and bad things from spiders games:
Good original world and story.
Nice levels and graphics, AA level.
Lots of possibilities in builds and story (but with the bugs and balance issues that comes with it).
Too greedy in what they thought they could do. They should focus on less things and do them right.
Too many bugs/Game not finished or bad QA.
Still had fun with the game, but still expect more from them.

GreedFall is a unique RPG game because it refers to older games such as Gothic or Risen. Despite its small budget, the game is quite large and I mean the entire content of the game, i.e. the plot, locations, weapons, characters and so on. The game has a dynamic, although classic combat system, we have a lot of different weapons to choose from, we also have spells at our disposal, there are also firearms, which in my opinion are very strong here and are good to play with. The plot and characters in the game are very well written. As for problems and bugs, I didn't really notice them, so it's good. In general, the whole game is a very good title and I can recommend it.

General overview
Greedfall is a very good AA product. It has atmosphere, characters development, intriguing main story and good combat system.
Story
The story is about colonialism in a new land (an island), full of magic and mysterious creatures.
The island is contended by three factions, plus the natives, and we are the cousin of the new governor of one faction. Our objective is to help our cousin dealing with the new land, the other two factions and the natives, while searching for a cure to the “malicore”, a disease that has affected our homeland.
Combat
The combat is a normal real-time action combat (attack, block, parry, dodge, some spells) plus the possibility to pause the game to place traps, use potions and check stats of the enemy.
Our party is always made of three people (us + 2 companions), but let’s say that the AI of the companions is not the strong point of the game.
Decisions
During the game we are asked to make some decisions, which will influence the ending of the game or some immediate settings. Given that is a AA game, you can gloss over the fact that the decisions doesn’t have huge impacts on the world itself, but mostly on some line of dialogue and mostly on on the epilogue told by the narrator.
Duration
I have finished the game in 30 hours, doing almost any secondary mission. The duration is good, but could be shorter, since there are some missions which unfolding is only: speak to A, go to B, pick item, return to A, redo a second time.
Performances
I played the game mostly on the steam deck, with some low settings and 40hz (and also 40 fps). The game ran smoothly all the time, the battery consumption is very good, and it was possible to play it for many hours before charging the steam deck again.
Very few bugs and very good graphics, of course better on a desktop pc rather than steam deck.
Pros
immersive story and environment
characters development
funny combat system
some decisions are important and change the ending
good graphics and performances
perfect for steam deck
very good price-value (especially if taken at 10€)
Cons
sometimes playtime stretched unnecessarily
decisions doesn’t influence the appearance of the world
stupid AI of companions and NPC (that sometimes just stand still)
if you go too far from an enemy, it will lose interest and recover all hp and shield

I did enjoy the game, but the quests that had me running up and down like a dog playing fetch, really made it tough to enjoy thoroughly. Fight mechanics is average and very slightly clunky. The dodge and fighting has no real issues, it's the slog-fest it becomes when you have 5 monsters mauling you, with a knock/stun effect. It's just annoying...
Story and character relations was great. Probably the only thing that kept me playing was to figure out the story and learn more about the character back stories. Also enjoyed that the choices you make effect some of the story outcomes.
One thing I can say for 100% certain. The game should be played with a controller and not a mouse a keyboard.
All in all, probably a 7/10 for me.

I finished Greedfall today and I enjoyed it, hence the positive review. I enjoyed the adventure, artwork, dialogue, hard choices, music and story. The setting evokes the colonial era albeit somewhere else in the multiverse, suffering from an incurable plague that is thought to originate from a newly discovered large island continent. Your are a legate (diplomat) of the most powerful nation of the old continent sent to investigate the origin of the plague, find a cure and keep the various factions from killing each other.
I found the game relaxing and pleasant and immersive.
But the reviews do not tell you everything. Here are a few things to reflect upon before you buy.
35% of players fail the first act and never get to the island because they cannot overcome the first boss fight
35% of players kill the easiest boss on the island
15% of players finish the game story to the ending. (Different endings depending on player choices)
This game was originally made for consoles. I saw a video on Youtube of a similar game made by the same company (Technomancer) on console by a skilled player with a controller, where the combat was fluid. This is not the case for Greedfall. The combat is clunky and awkward on mouse and keyboard. I spammed the pause button liberally during combat because the mouse and keyboard bindings were awkward to use and I had poor control of my character.
I used magic, firearms, bombs and traps, not melee, because you need perfect character control for that. Most battles involve fast mobs swarming your party in melee range, knocking you down and crowd control is limited. There is quite a contrast with games such as Skyrim, Warframe, Borderlands, Dishonored, Dragon's dogma, Fallout, Destiny, that allow for fluid combat with M+K and combos of melee and ranged.
There is a good chance an average player will enjoy the adventure, story, atmosphere, events, music, environment and moral, ethical, philosophical topics evoked in the story.
Sweaty Dark Souls masters, and crybabies will probably find the game too easy or too hard respectively. There is hope for the rest of us.

Like many have said, rough around the edges, but I keep coming back because of the heart. That's what I want in a game above all, and I can get past some jank if it means I'll have a good time (looking directly at DS2 and DA:O). And it's REALLY not that bad - there are some issues, but nothing that overshadowed the characters, romances, and story progression. Really glad I gave GreedFall a chance, big thanks to the developers for making a game that felt refreshingly sincere.
