This is an excellent game, the bad ratings are due to technical difficulties, sadly. I was able to play without any issues by creating a shortcut from the Steam folder in Windows and executing said shortcut "as administrator", no crashes at all.
PROS:
-Graphics are beautiful
-Story gets more and more interesting as you play
-The Fantamon system is pretty interesting
-Voice acting is great.
CONS:
-Lann and Reynn are obnoxious! Lann do stupid things and Reynn nags and nags. Only at the end of the game they become more grounded.
-In this game, a hard boss is a boss with a million hp.

The game suffers one technical problems but does seem to be worth playing, here is a fix for the main problems at hand here:
Game crashing upon launching:
Go to the local files of the game, then right click WoFF.exe, go in the property tab and check the box to allow the app to be run as administrator
No way to full screen:
Just go in the local files once again and run WoFFconfig.exe manually from there since square enix can't be bothered to make sure that the interaction they're instructing you to proceed with in order to adjust the graphics works perfectly
Honestly this is just sad, making sure that the basic functions of your program works is the very least when it comes to that sort of things, and although I have no doubt I'll enjoy the game this is something that should *NEVER* occur, especially not for a AAA production

It's a Kingdom Hearts of Final Fantasy worlds with deep monster collecting mechanics - so yes, the gameplay and fan service are top notch. The lead characters, however, are despicable and obnoxious. Be warned.

For people having crashing problems, all you need to do is go into the game folder, Right click the "WOFF.exe" Properties > Compatibility > Run as Admin.
Game launches without problems.
Played though the entire thing, no crashes. no missing shortcuts, no corruptions.
Once over that hurdle, games pretty fun. does try a bit to hard to be funny at times with all the puns, but that's kinda the point of this one.

I was gifted this game by a friend.
Thanks, By the way!
Honestly it's been on my wishlist for several years to the point I forgot about it, actually.
Is this a perfect game? Absolutely not.
Is this just a fun lighthearted romp through the Final Fantasy universe with a lot of self-referential moments in it?
Yes. Yes it is.
Some of the positives include:
Well-Designed Bosses (Visually)
Quite a few of the bosses, Especially in the sequence leading to the True Ending, I really enjoyed the designs of.
Visually diverse environments
You will be traveling through parts of Grymoire which are rather vibrant. Varying from the plains of Cornelia, to the depths of the Ocean Palace.
There wasn't really an area that I would say is hard on the eyes.
Fairly dynamic ways to build your stacks
In the endgame I just used the Mirages that they just end up giving you.
Yet, you do not have to do that.
Heck, you could keep the same team from the start of the game and (So long as they keep up in level) bring them into the final boss fight.
Music
Within World of Final Fantasy, There's quite a few remixes of classic Final Fantasy themes from FF1 all the way to FF13 (at least in the base game. It goes up to FF15 in the Maxima DLC).
The Original tracks for the game are.. average in comparison to the remix tracks.
Sadly though, The entire game Isn't JUST the visual design of the bosses, or the music.
Let's start with the stuff that is overall "meh" first.
The voice acting/Sound mixing
Don't get me wrong, there IS good voice acting in this game, Yet I would say most of it is overall average.
The best way I can describe it is World of Final Fantasy has the caliber of a 4Kids dub of a Shonen Anime. The good moments are solid, but the overall voice acting can get tiresome for some characters.
The game has a fairly diverse cast of GREAT voice actors and actresses, and when they give it their all, you can tell.
On the topic of Sound Mixing, Most of the sounds are fairly balanced. The other times, A boss's Jet engine-wing sounds will overlap his own voice. Certain lines may also cut off at the last second.
The Difficulty
This is definitely NOT a hard game. While it may have a few challenging (and well designed) bosses, There also will be a fair amount of the time where you end up wishing for more.... In the main ending.
The TRUE ending has quite a few challenging bosses in it, including one that I had to use a fairly imbalanced ability to get his health within a manageable margin.
I would definitely call it a "My first Monster Collector", Like a Pokèmon game.
The Progression
Monsters get more difficult as you go through the game, yet every single one you collect, from your first Chicobo to BAHAMUT HIMSELF, will always start at Level 1.
There also was one particular dungeon that I really struggled with, due to most of my team being weak to the element that every monster in that dungeon used.
As I said earlier, You can bring early-game monsters all the way to the final dungeon if built right.
This is both a boon and a bane to the game's "fun", depending on what you find fun.
I brought a Behemoth pup from the start of the game, all the way to the end, Where he was 2-Shotting bosses in the post-game side-stories using Revenge Blast.
The designs of the chibi characters
They can be cute but it really depends on your opinions and if you like the "Big-Head-Marketable-Plushie" design. Most people don't really like it, I don't really mind it, personally. This game came out in 2016, the beginning of the "Pop! vinyl craze".
The Story
As I said in the beginning, it's a basic romp through a monster collector game world. Nothing great, nothing terrible, for most of it. Act 2 and the final arc do actually end up being more okay, and take a slightly more serious tone, but it happens rather late into the game.
Dungeon Design
Overall it's rather linear. If you're expecting the Maze-like nature of say.. Persona 4, look somewhere else. You'll find branching paths for treasure, or switches and hurdles that require specific Mirages, but other than that It's overall just a fairly straightforward game.
I would say if it weren't for the story involved with them, the last two dungeons end up being a little bit long for being "the FINAL approach."
And now... The bad.
Let's start with what you will see most reviews mention: "The game doesn't launch!"
That is true for the windows version. You still have to go through the game's Steamapps-Common folder, and launch WOFF.exe from there.
On the Steam Deck, the game just works. No digging through folders required.
The Script
The translation, could definitely use work. It takes some solid voice acting and makes it pretty bad. From Lann's pseudo-swears that get pretty honking annoying, To Tama's "Quirky" The-speech pattern, there's a lot that's not great here. It easily could have gone into the "meh", but for an E10 Game, the script for most of it is rather "kid"-y, especially in comparison to some other franchises.
Overall, World of Final Fantasy is Flawed, yet fun, and a decent way to introduce younger family members into the JRPG scene.
Yet, at the same time there are definitely better kid-friendly series for RPGs out there.
Overall, this game gets a 7/10 for some average story but being okay overall.

I found the game to be a lot better than I was expecting going into it. To be fair, I'm an adult that grew up on the franchise. While I was a kid when I first started playing Final Fantasy, I am no longer. In terms of the characters and story, it's definitely aimed at a younger audience than myself, but it's consistent with the age group I was in when I played my first Final Fantasy games. There are some serious themes, but the vast majority of the game has a decidedly non-serious tone.
The fact that it incorporates major and minor champions (and enemies) from FFI-XV (and a number of the spinoffs) gives the game a lot of nostalgic appeal that may help adults overcome the cheesy juvenile nature of the game. The battle system is based on the turn-based menus of the first ten games in the franchise, (a welcome return to that classic style). Personally, I think it's one of the better games in the franchise that uses this style. As twins, the two main characters themselves have no unique playable abilities and are essentially copies of each other. They do have unique abilities pertaining to the story, but those unfortunately aren't reflected in the gameplay.
The primary goal of the game is to collect monsters (known as Mirages) a la Pokemon, Monster Rancher, etc. With these mirages, you customize each of the two character's traits by "stacking" them with two other captured mirages. Although the capture method is reminiscent of Pokemon, the concept of summoning monsters or using their abilities (as a blue mage) has been with the franchise for a long time. Each mirage has a combination of unique skills and generic stat boosts that are gained by unlocking nodes on a grid (similar to Final Fantasy X). The Maxima version of the game contains over 200 unique mirages. The majority of these are categorized into similar "family" groups with palette swaps and "base/intermediate/final forms".
There are numerous zones across the game, each with monsters that are immune/sensitive to specific elements. For most of the game, you'll want a wide variety of different types of mirages at your disposal in order to exploit weaknesses and defend from elemental attacks. This is particular true for characters relying on elemental damage rather than neutral physical attacks. Elemental damage is always superior to neutral damage against enemies with elemental weaknesses, but you won't get far if you're trying to bring the same fire mirage you used to clear the ice zone when you enter the fire zone.
Whether or not you decide to "catch em all" is mostly a matter of how many of the achievements you want to unlock. Mirages can be divided into roughly three categories. Some are must-have "best-in-class" monsters that provide the best stats, elemental resistances or abilities. Some are generally mediocre, but are worth training to some degree to unlock the "Mirajewels" from their grids. These mirajewels can then be equipped in order to give the two main characters stats or abilities they can use independently of the original mirage. A number of mirages fall into neither of these categories, though, and are not very helpful. Using a guide to assist you while playing is recommended to help understand which mirages are worth investing in and which are not.

I had only finished Final Fantasy 7 and the FF tactics games from the gba and Ds up until now (which are among my favorite games of all time), now playing World of Final fantasy i just noticed again the summoning mechanics, flashy beautifully animated sequences and characters from legendary lores, and now i think i will be playing more games of the series, is lacking the job system which is on pair with summonings to me but still amazing, it is an excellent game.
