Redeemer: Enhanced Edition
REDEEMER is an intense Brawler where you will punch, hack and blast your way through enemies using fists, hammers, fire arms and even the environment. It grabs the genre by the throat and drags it into 2017 in brutal style by adding a deep melee combat system and numerous unique types of kills. Redeemer is the brawler for those who love brawlers and have been waiting for a modern take on the genre! Play as Vasily, an elite operative who once worked for one of the biggest Cybernetic Weapons Manufacturers in the world. Officially working in security, you were tasked with infiltration, assassination, extortion and even torture. When eventually the corporation decided to turn you into one of its cyborg soldiers, you manage to narrowly escape to a secluded monastery deep in the snowy mountains. For 20 years you tried to find peace and harmony amongst your fellow monks, but you are still too haunted by your murderous past to find either.

When John Wick retires to a Russian monastery… and still can’t catch a break.
You play as Vasily, a man who tried inner peace, but decided fists were better than forgiveness. The game is basically 6-8 hours of absolute mayhem, with melee kills so satisfying they might make your underwear musty.
It’s short, sweet, and brutally entertaining. Not perfect, but definitely fun. If you're into punching, smashing, and yelling “CYKA” through your teeth, Redeemer might be a game for you.

The only issue I have with this game is that there aren't multiple sequels for me to enjoy. Must play.

There's numerous spelling mistakes in the localisation, the story is super thin, and I had some weird issue where the resolution was perpetually scuffed and never let me get the whole game on the screen at once (with no option to choose between full screen, windowed, etc.), and there's a weird blurry foggy effect sometimes which just makes everything look washed out.
But none of that matter because ho-ly shit did these guys nail the mechanics. I've never felt more like Jet Li in a video game.
The moment to moment game play is absolutely fantastic. The melee feels weighty, the gun play is smooth, and sliding between the two, weaving in contextual environmental finishers and attacks makes the whole thing feel super slick.
Progression is great - enemies get more interesting, but they never turn into major bullet sponges, the character levelling serves the game well, it's simple and unobtrusive, but meaningful enough to bother with.
The only thing which was a bit underwhelming from a game play perspective was the bosses, purely because they are extremely simple. But as they are only really a minor part of the experience, that wasn't a major issue.
I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in twin sticks or beat 'em ups. Great game. I only meant to play for 15 minutes test test it as I bought it along with a bunch of others in the summer sale. Ended up spending 5 or so hours playing through the whole thing in a single sitting.

This is one of those little gems you come across once in a while that the so called critics are luke warm about but its actually far better than they suggest. Redeemer is a violent little top down beat em up shoot em up game that's fun but also surprisingly difficult at times too. Its addictive wading your way through enemies and level design is creative and varied. On the downside I felt the controls could have been better. I can see why they opted for left shift to choose assault rifles and other weapons of that kind but its still awkward. The lack of maneuverability of your character is also a hassle when it comes to boss fights too. Its really becomes a reload and hope for the best slug fest. Still a lot to like here and not a lot of demand on even an average system. A thumbs up from me.

Played on Rog Ally x2. (Says 55hrs played. I must have left it running somewhere. Gameplay was 10hrs max.)
Redeemer: Enhanced Edition has been on my radar/backlog for years it seems.
Anyways. The game is an isometric beat em' up/shooter with a whole bunch of levels, guns, melee weapons, violence and gore. Didnt really follow the story at all just ran around pummelling dudes and monsters "a la Kratos" style. It works. Simple and fun. And if you're here for a quick, cheap and fun game then its well worth your time.
Only slight issues I had was some stuttering in later levels on turbo mode surrounded by mobs and the final levels seem to disappear very quickly and seem to have a bit less thought put into them. First 10 or 12 levels are more maze like with different rooms and then it kind of rushes through to the end. You'll also come across plenty of perks and upgrades on your journey that make clearing out levels easier and a bit more chore like.

Just the right amount of gameplay. The game does have some difficulty spikes and is short with the ending. Bring on the sequel
