Different Strokes
Your friend, a conceptual artist, has invited you to their latest exhibition.
You enter expecting to see their art adorning the walls, but to your surprise, the VISITORS are the ones drawing the art — they’re even drawing over each other’s work! It’s up to you to protect the exhibition from being covered in artwork that is, intentionally or otherwise, truly awful.
Gameplay consists of:
– exploring the ever-expanding gallery
– painting your own artwork on blank canvases
– editing other player’s artwork
– rating completed artwork
All of the art exhibited in the game is 100% created and remixed and rated LIVE by other players. Yes, we host all of this art and load it in dynamically. We hope that you will choose to fix the (inevitable) unacceptable art!
In addition to the main gallery there is also a portal to the “gallery of the week”. Every week there will be a new gallery with a particular theme. The main gallery is pretty crowded so your art may have a better chance of standing out in the gallery of the week!
Paintings have a “share link” button that takes you to a web page you can use to share your work with other people outside of the game.
Player’s can optionally create a user account. When logged in, any paintings you create/edit will be marked with your username. Other players will be able to click on your username to see all the paintings you have created.
From the logged in screen you can see notifications when other players like your paintings and see how many total likes they’ve received.

I've had the free base version of this game sitting around in my Steam library for ages and I wish I'd played it sooner! I ended up buying the DLC so I could get the extra art brushes and my own little art gallery URL. I love checking back to see if anyone has collabed on one of my art pieces. I love that it encourages the art community to work together :) I recommend this to all artists that enjoy digital art!!

ive been feeling really bad about art in general. social media. how people treat artists. how the gig economy puts pressure on monetizing your hobbies and the competition that creates. burnt out because I had a life emergency a year ago and im still recovering
this game is nice for that, i think. limited art program where you have to use screentones to mix colors. it really makes you feel accomplished when you get something that looks good to you.
i also like the sandbox element as well as the collaborative element. prompts come from anywhere and anyone and that can be good. the weekly challenge is also pretty cute conceptually.
i hope the online aspect of this remains well maintained and moderated for a bit so more people can enjoy it & the diversity of creation
to all the artists out there keep on creating and do it first and foremost for yourself
it's a skill you have to build up and work on and you can definitely improve no matter where you're starting from
we used to paint on cave walls. creating is what we do.

Pretty awesome game. Not a ton to do with the free version, but if you "fix" another persons art who used the locked colours, it allows you to use them as well =) I do think the free version could use a couple more tools, I can live with the free colours but it would be nice to at least change the values of them.
Anyway, good art game. I've definitely improved my art skills since playing this and it's really fun seeing what others create :D

I adore this game. It's an amazing safe haven from AI slop, art thievery, and artist's block. I HIGHLY recommend the Deluxe version (under $2 on sale!) if you enjoy digital doodling. This game is a blast.

Different Strokes isn't really a game, it is more an online art museum. Lots of skilled artists submitting stuff and it's fun to walk around and see the wide variation in styles, quality and seriousness. It's free and the art cycles out frequently so you'll often find new stuff. There's not really a downside to visiting the gallery once and a while so I highly recommend Different Strokes.
