Shroom & Doom is a top-down tower-defense game where you play as a little robot that has crash landed on an alien planet. You must defeat waves of bug-like enemies and use the biomass they drop to build towers made from the local mushrooms. These towers are your only hope at defending yourself from the ever increasing onslaught of vicious enemies
- Defend yourself against waves of increasing intensity
- Face off against three unique enemies
- Use biomass obtained from the local fauna to grow your own defensive towers
- Play again and again to get farther and beat your highscore
This game was developed as a student project at DigiPen Institute of Technology and was created for educational purposes only. Please check out our publisher page for more information.

I made this game and it has special place in my heart. It's really easy to throw stones, especially when you aren't a creator. For me personally, I'm proud of what my team made. Over the course of a year our little team of 6 created a custom engine, no unity, unreal, or any of that, and created a game within that custom engine. Little word of advice for anyone reading this, don't let haters get you down, Shroom & Doom is not a masterpiece by any means, but my team has grown, we're 20 strong now and we're about to drop a certified banger in early 2025. So thank you for playing our little tower defense game, we're just getting started 😎

This is... certainly a game. It feels like something I would see in a GameJam, ngl. It feels rushed and like it was made in two days, which it might have been. For a free little game, it's fine. My only complaint is that everything feels really slow, like grossly slow. All the enemies move really slow, the player moves really slow, your towers shoot slow, it just felt... meh. I died at like... wave 12 and didn't want to try again due to how slow it felt. The only changes I would probably do would be to make things feel faster, especially the player. Increase the tower's radius, as the towers have a very small range. If things were sped up, the ice tower would actually be useful. One last tip, please change the sound effects... Every button, every bullet, every enemy death are mouth sounds. I understand why you would do that, it adds a cute charm to it, but everything makes those noises and it just gets really annoying after a bit.
TL;DR: The game is slow, feels like a GameJam entry, the sounds are annoying after a bit, and the towers aren't that useful. Over all, it's meh for a free game. 5/10
