Read Only Memories: NEURODIVER
You Are A Psychic Agent
Take on the role of ES88, a young esper employed by MINERVA, a powerful organization specializing in information science, neurotechnology, and extrasensory phenomena. She has been tasked with tracking down Golden Butterfly, a mysterious psychic entity hiding in and fragmenting the memories of Neo-San Francisco’s citizens. Who are they? Why are they doing this? And how will you stop them?
The NEURODIVER
The Neurodiver is a bioengineered psychic creature made to assist in boosting an esper’s natural abilities. With its help, you’ll be able to collect clues and thoughts in your subject’s memories in an effort to piece together distorted fragments inside them, pushing Golden Butterfly out!
New And Old
Read Only Memories: NEURODIVER is a return to the vibrant sci-fi world of Neo-San Francisco from 2064: Read Only Memories with a whole new story, and a whole new cast of characters. It’s an adventure that newcomers can easily dive into, but those familiar with the original game might notice a lot of familiar faces making a comeback!
An FM Sound Sensation!
NEURODIVER’s soundtrack is inspired by the OPNA/YM2608 sounds of the PC-8801 and PC-9801 series of computers, brought to you by Scarlet Moon composer and sound designer, Ken “coda” Snyder (Tree of Knowledge)!
If you love the sharp and glossy tones generated by late 80s and early 90s FM chips found in a variety of old computers, sound cards, arcades and consoles, then you’ll be right at home here. Long live the power of FM sound! 🎹

I think the writing was much more stronger than the original Read Only Memories, but the game is shorter, which is a trade off. The game also mostly relies on a lot of the previous game's characters, which isn't bad, but I do wish the characters in this game could have been fleshed out further too.
That said, I think it's a solid game and was a great time.
In an age where I want shorter games with worse graphics made by people who are paid more to work less, I think this game is exactly fine for what it is. It's a delight, and I hope we get to see more from these creators.

on the fence. if you can enjoy a game off of art and music alone you'll have fun and it's not that long anyways. Like people are saying, it feels very rushed and unsatisfying. the puzzles are terrible but they don't take up too much of your time.

Although shorter, it does not fail to deliver to the player (me). It falls short as compared to 2064: ROM in terms of content and story telling--but because this is a side story, its nothing to whine about! I loved every chapter of it, I just wish there was more ughhh!
A lot of reviews are putting it down... but I guess it boils down to personal preference!
Voice acting: AMAZING
Art: Outstandingly GORGEOUS
Audio and Music: Still TOP TIER
Story Content: wish it was longer but still SWEET

I knew going in that Neurodiver was going to be shorter than 2064: Read Only Memories but I still loved the story and fully enjoyed returning to that good-good Neo-SF atmosphere.
If you liked 2064: R.O.M. then I'd definitely recommend! Just be aware that it is a shorter side story.

While far, far shorter the original Read Only Memories, neurodiver is a fun little romp. Characters are nice, even if there are only a few, and the plot is good.

I'll start this review by saying this is the first and only story of this saga I'm familiar with as of now. I found this a really enjoyable experience as a stand alone; the art is really well made, the characters manage to convey their personality easily, the puzzles are not too obvious but also not too challenging and there are lots of cool concepts to this universe that make the story very immersive.
overall a very good experience. definitely consider adding it to your library or wishlist

I was a backer for the original ROM title and was absolutely delighted by Neurodiver. The mixed reviews led me to put off playing it for a few months, and now I’m bewildered by how there are so many negative reviews. The magical girl fantasy angle for the protagonist, the amazing new characters with truly top-notch voice acting, the art direction and music absolutely blowing it out of the water… I couldn’t put it down. I had to know what was going to happen in the next chapter when one closed. For me, the story absolutely landed and ended in a satisfying way, and I hope there is a chance I can spend more time with these characters in the future.
