Edit
When he awakes in an old abandoned asylum, his sole memory is the attempted rescue of a teenage girl with a bomb strapped to her chest. Everything else is blank. With a strange technology fused to his head – used to read and replay human memory – Black travels into the depths of his own mind. To find the truth of his past. To find the truth of what happened. And to answer two very simple questions:‘Why were you there?’ and, ‘Who was the girl?’

I do recommend this game, but with a caveat. Get Even is a movie-game, and the game part is bad. I really wanted to like it but that's an unavoidable fact.
As for the "movie part," without getting into spoilers, the main story is one of corporate espionage/sabotage and kidnapping. Incidentally, it takes place in a condemned asylum inhabited by haunted manikins and homicidal patients. In the latter half, it becomes a family melodrama. It's an ambitious premise that can only be told through a video game, which is why I disagree with the people who say it should have been a novel or series.

I'm going to recommend this, but I ended up not enjoying it by the end.
This game is equal parts: cool visuals, light horror, fun story, terrible stealth sections, and lackluster gun-play.
I enjoyed it at the start, really wrapping myself up in the mystery and cool visuals, but the further you go, the more the unpolished parts of the game stick out more and more.
Around the time you get to the third "stealth" section, the "stealth" game-play this game puts forth loses pretty much all its fun. With strange enemy detection capabilities, and sometimes almost zero chance to actually go undetected (which is the pinnacle of doing stealth game-play in the first place) I bashed my head against the wall several times trying to wrap my head around the developers choices here.
It seemed like once past the halfway point, the lore sections are just handheld museum pieces(stand there and listen to this, now move over here and listen to this, etc.) and all the cool things your character is capable of (tech-wise) doesn't matter.
This all sounds pretty bad, but the GOOD things in this game ARE really good. Someone who doesn't know what good stealth is or care about tight gun-play will probably enjoy this just fine, but I've been gaming since OG Mario and have seen half-realized game design so many times that I can't ignore it anymore.
I will stand by my view I had when I finished this for a Let's Play on my channel......
This is an okay game (just okay), but it would have made a far better TV show (or any other streaming style show) It has all the hallmarks of a cool miniseries/movie and not so much fun gaming.

Get Even is a rather ambitious combination of interactive storytelling, adventure, stealth and FPS. Truth be told, it handles the first genre brilliantly, it does relatively well in the second (I would have liked more use of some of the tablet's tools like the heat detector and UV light), while in the rest it performs just adequately.
It had a good psychological thriller vibe - in places it reminded me of the gem Condemned Criminal Origins - and the concept lends itself to some offbeat set pieces.
The quality of the writing and the story practically carry the whole venture with little effort to the end. It's an easy recommendation for fans of story-driven games.

An excellent story, with an absolutely stunning score, that's unfortunately marred by awkward controls and gameplay mechanics. I definitely think more people should give this game a try, though. This is one that will stick with me for a long time.

Ok. So ,I'm giving a positive review. I only have 3 hours logged, and here is why. It's a beautiful game with a cool gun, but when you use the cool gun, you get yelled at. Why give me a cool gun or a gun at all if every time I pull the trigger, you yell at me? So here is what I'm going to do. I'm reinstalling the game right now, and I am going to shoot every bastard that gets in my way. If I get a bad ending, so be it. I'm going on a killing spree.

Well, this left me kind of speechless... Without spoiling it for others lets just say this is one twisted game!!! And I almost would like to use the headset provided to crawl around the people minds that wrote it, but I'm afraid I might get lost forever... It's definitely a masterpiece!!! I've seen things similar to this in real life and a lot of people probably wouldn't completely understand. Intel and DARPA did something similar to this in 1998, only they wireless hacked the human brains alpha wave. One crazy story, completely entangled and confusing until the end. Play it, love it, think about it...

Story and environment are really good, gameplay kinda sucks though. Pick it up on sale if you're going to play it.
