It's a pretty decent "node capture" strategy game (not the traditional base building RTS style, but rather the "capture nodes to produce units" style). I've only played the campaign and a bit of skirmish, never multiplayer (which is dead now). I had a lot of fun, got 100% of achievements, and enjoyed my time doing it.
Game is not the most balanced, and there's definitely a lot of niggly issues (stuff like air units seeming to evade lots of attacks, or their targeting bugging out and 'strafing' the same enemy multiple times without attacking, basically guaranteeing that the air unit will die), and story is nothing to write home about. But I did quite enjoy my time playing it.
The developers have now made the game completely free (no hidden costs or anything, just the entire game for free), so there's no harm in giving it a try and seeing if you enjoy it.

This game suffers from very uninspired gameplay. The team that creating it seems to have spent more time making the game pretty than actually making it fun to play. The campaign is also uninteresting and features particularly bad writing.
Eufloria is a much better version of a similar idea.

Near game, I got it for free, I think it's free to play now?
Anyhow. Don't play on hard difficulty, game is really unfair. In many ways. Enemy have additional units spawn outside the map, so you are always on the short end of the stick. It is beatable even on hard, but really frustrating. Not worth the stress. Otherwise, try it. It is good concept. Sadly, not really improved over the years in gaming sense.

If strategy is your type of game. Then this is for you. I haven't played this game in awhile so I can't remember if there is multiplayer, would work that way as well . But single player is fun and can be difficult.

I had a lot of fun with it, maybe I'm not as advanced as others, but it's good for me.
