I saw toby the fox mention this game during the last newsletter and i was curious enough to play through it however i will call the dev evil, that right you are a evil dev making sneak a little guy who shows up behind you and is probably the only little guy i need to bonk in the head to get 100%, he is probably laughing at me living in one of those dark rooms that i probably wouldn't have thought to check behind me so now he get to remain free while his 419 friends got the bonk.. evil evil dev.........
good game however

A small but challenging vania about a monster basher that must rescue his friends.
You must hit the monsters with light to make them vulnerable and you need to beat them to open gates than need a certain number of monster souls.
There are plenty of secrets and a few hidden shops, it's very fun romp.

Solid and somewhat challenging metroidvania. Definitely recommend!
There's a few frustrating things like some enemy designs or the simple controls not going your way, and maybe the Castlevania knockback occasionally making you fall into an unwanted place, or the Luigi's Mansion-esque light mechanic sometimes (which I love), but I don't think it's anything that really detracts from the overall time spent with the game if you know to expect some jank or frustration.
The vibes and characters, along with the variety of weapons and items to obtain made it a really enjoyable experience. I especially like the cuter characters and npcs mixed with creepy monsters and environments. It's reminiscent of something like Kirby, expect creepier.
And it's fun to see cameos of characters from the dev's previous games!

Fun game! Took me a little over 5 hours to beat the game (including bashing all monsters and finding all pages). But there were still a few things I missed, such as one minor weapon and I didnt get all the achievements. That said, its fun metroidvania with old school graphics and music but modern gameplay and quality of life design. The controls felt good other than the occasional accidental dash. The map is good with multiple ways to access certain areas. And if you are like me and see a place that "looks possible" to cheese your way to, this game will allow you to make the effort to get there :)
If you like metroidvania games, this is a good game to enjoy for a week or two exploring its map and findings it secrets that won't overstay its welcome.

The combat, platforming, characters, and monsters, all very memorable and enjoyable. I had a great time playing through to the end, I might try my hand on some of the achievements, too. Fun lil' game.

This game really nails the metroidvania formula with style. There is definitely the sense of exploration and I love that it doesn't start you out with a map so you are building up your memory of the landscape as you go.
Update: Just finished at nearly 7 hours in. Honestly such a fun game.
