Zenith
Zenith is an action RPG that combines that feel of the golden era RPG games with a generous dose of humor and parody. The game counts with a solid story which unfolds in a fantasy world populated by dozens of unorthodox characters. Adventuring, exploring ruins, accidentally unleashing the apocalypse, saving the world… you’ve done it all, and so has Argus. And, frankly, he’s a bit fed up with the whole thing. He used to be a wizard, which was fine and all, but he’s in his 30s now, and he wants to settle down, get some peace and quiet. But that’s not easy to get with all those spike-haired buffoons dragging their giant swords around and ruining the pavement. Specially when you’re trying to keep a dangerous artifact hidden from meddling heroes with a chosen one complex.

I will start with the bad:
The graphics are terrible.
The animations are buggy.
The music is repetitive and feels as if it was a public sample.
The combat is hideous and the particles are all broken.
The inventory system is simply annoying.
The good:
It's short enough that all that's bad about the game doesn't matter that much, it stops before it becomes too unbearable.
The story is more serious and interesting than the game deserves it to be. Truly fun and catching.
The jokes that begin being bad puns and silly, end up building up, and when your guard is low, truly giggle inducing stuff starts happening.
The climax is VERY good.

Zenith is one of those games where the story and characters do the heavy lifting and it's very much a testament to how outright funny and well written this game is at times that I was willing to overlook the otherwise clunky and bland ARPG game-play.
Combat is a simplistic affair, you can find up to three melee weapon types of three different elements, you have one fireball type spell and an AOE, most of the time combat devolves into mashing melee attack unless its one of the enemy types that hits like a truck then I found myself rolling around casting fireball at every opportunity that pattern never really changed. Enemy hit-boxes were suspect several times I found myself taking damage while visibly out of range from attacks / spells. Enemies don't react to you own attacks instead endlessly flailing away in their onslaught and its very easy to become overwhelmed and die fast. Gear seems to make almost no visible difference in survivability only damage numbers,
One of the levels involved a physics based puzzle which I found so laborious and unfun it nearly spoiled the game for me.
And sadly the game is riddled with bugs, the interface locks up if you are in the middle of any action, the game outright crashed more than a few times.
If it seems I am being harsh it's because I am the game has real issues, yet under the surface it is truly an unpolished gem, the characters were endearing, the game made me physically laugh out loud on several occasions, it's self depreciating, it's references were fun and not tropey or overplayed and from start to finish I was always eager to see what fun would unfold with the next scene.
A tenuous recommendation.

Love RPG? Make sure to Follow my Curator Page for plenty more!
It's worth playing solely for the plot and humor, everything else is bad, especially the loud, unregulated music.

i sunk 10 hours into this game with a desire to finish the story i havent felt in ages. such a interesting and fun story with a lot of pop culture callbacks and plenty of twists.
the gameplay was super enjoyable with a mix of old school rpgs and new. with a decent amount of character customizability with abilities unlocked with leveling up and the mixture of 3 weapon types and 3 elements.

For all it's flaws as a game, this was one of the best pieces of fantasy/comedy I've ever read. If you like Terry Pratchett's work you will like this too. Just be patient with the game part of it.

Okay so the gameplay is undercooked, but I laughed my ass off.
If you can look past how clunky it is and you played the games it's satire is based on then it's great fun

Storyline is good but the gameplay is dull
