The glitz, glamour, and unbridled decadence of the 80s are back in Yakuza 0. Fight like hell through Tokyo and Osaka with protagonist Kazuma Kiryu and series regular Goro Majima. Play as Kazuma Kiryu and discover how he finds himself in a world of trouble when a simple debt collection goes wrong and his mark winds up murdered. Then, step into the silver-toed shoes of Goro Majima and explore his “normal” life as the proprietor of a cabaret club. Switch between three different fighting styles instantaneously and beat up all manner of goons, thugs, hoodlums, and lowlifes. Take combat up a notch by using environmental objects such as bicycles, sign posts, and car doors for bone-crunching combos and savage take-downs. Fighting is not the only way to kill time in 1988’s Japan: from discos and hostess clubs to classic SEGA arcades, there are tons of distractions to pursue in the richly detailed, neon-lit world. Interact with the colourful denizens the red light district: help a budding S&M dominatrix learn her profession, or ensure a street performer can make it to the bathroom in time – there are 100 incredible stories to discover.

It's not very common that I play JRPGs, but I somehow totally fell for the Yakuza series! If someone hasn't played it yet, I can just highly recommend to give it a try! It is clearly inspired by the not so successful Dreamcast-series "Shenmue", but perfectionised the formula in a great way. That's why I personally love it so much, and because the Yakuza topic makes it still so much more impactful. Yes, someone could blame it for celebrating violence a little too much, or for its many textbox dialogues. I personally also don't really care for most of the sidequests, which mostly are just pointless dialogue sequences with a few mini games within. But on the other hand, the criminal story within the Yakuza circles really keeps me caught, just like the battles and the upgrade systems! Also, I love, how beautifully Japan with all its shine is celebrated here, and that you can feel like making a trip in the home of Anime yourself! So "Yakuza" really has the potential to be something like a japanese cultural asset. And "Yakuza 0" ... oh my, what an experience!!! For me clearly the best part, with its story, characters and even emotions! And let me ensure you, that even the not so great moments, like the long and boring dialogues, somehow contribute to the charm of Anime, so they aren't any longer that much of a flaw!

This game taught me that a real yakuza sings in karoakes, dances in discos and plays circuit race
