Vaporum is a grid-based, single-player & single-character dungeon crawler RPG seen from the first person perspective in an original steampunk setting. Inspired by old-school games like Dungeon Master I and II, the Eye of the Beholder series, and the most recent Legend of Grimrock I and II. Stranded in the middle of an ocean, in front of a gigantic tower, the hero has to find out what the place is, what happened there, and most importantly, who he is. Combat takes place in real time. Each enemy has a distinctive set of strengths and weaknesses so you have to employ different tactics to beat each one. Weapon types have each a set of unique bonuses and behaviors which adds more depth and thought when choosing what weapons to equip.

**"Vaporum"** ist ein atmosphärischer Dungeon-Crawler im Steampunk-Stil, der klassische Gitterbewegung mit moderner Präsentation kombiniert. Die Kämpfe in Echtzeit fordern gutes Timing und Positionierung, während das Inventar- und Upgrade-System viel Raum für individuelle Spielweise lässt. Die Rätsel sind clever designt, fordern zum Nachdenken heraus und unterbrechen die Action auf angenehme Weise. Dazu kommt ein gelungenes Sounddesign und eine dichte, geheimnisvolle Story, die die düstere Umgebung stimmungsvoll untermalt. I never thought i would play games like this.
Great piece of art. good atmosphere and artstyle combined with a relaxed (optional) but exciting gameplay.
Some puzzles are quite hard and the last one felt absolutelly random.

Schönes Spiel. Die offensichtlichen Parallelen zu Bioshock sind kaum zu übersehen, aber das tut dem Spaß irgendwie keinen Abbruch. Dadurch, dass die Entwickler dem Ganzen eine klassische Dungeon-Crawler-Navigation und ein grundlegendes Rollenspielsystem spendieren, fühlt sich das Ganze dennoch erstaunlich originell an. Manchmal stimmt das alte Sprichwort: Lieber gut geklaut als schlecht neu erfunden (oder so ähnlich)
