UBOAT
UBOAT is a simulator of a submarine from WWII era, yet different than all you have seen so far. It is a survival sandbox with crew management mechanics while its primary theme is life of German sailors. The boat is their home, but it can become their grave at any time. In UBOAT you control the crew in order to control the boat. You look after their physical and mental health, because if the sailors are hungry, tired and their spirit is low, there’s no chance of winning even a skirmish. The extensive damage system is a foundation of the game's survival elements. Unprecedented situations are bound to happen as the effect of received damage, testing player's creativity and ability to stay calm. You can try to save the whole crew or leave someone behind, to save the others. While your ship travels through the open seas, you will often find yourself being on your own. Use your management skills to spend resources taken on the trip optimally and in special cases try to recover them on the sea, by asking your allies for the help… or by looting wreckages of enemy ships.

probably the best naval game ive ever played, usually i find naval games boring but this game made me so into uboats i looked into about everything about them and watched das boot which is now one of my favourite movies.

Joking aside. Apart from the still rather bad voice-overs (which will now be revised in the next patch), the game is really really good. I played a lot of SH3, IV and 5 before, but SH3 is my absolute favourite. SH3 is also really old and the graphics are just not really brilliant.
UBOAT has stunning graphics and nice crew management. Of course it's not finished yet and I'm still missing a few things, but the game is constantly being updated and should soon leave the EA phase. In the last few years, a lot has already been changed and improved, improved AI, better controls and quick menus, graphics improvements, stroyline improvements, etc. I still need realistic harbours and better harbour defences. But they are working on that right now.
My best gaming experience so far:
U96- On mission in the North Sea. PQ12 convoy, 13 ships with escort. Two ships sunk, destroyers chasing me and throwing depth charges. After 30 minutes one hits the stern, diesel and electric motors are flooded, power failure, Wilhelm hits his head and has to be treated. Attempts are made to repair the water breach, but the boat begins to sink quickly. Water in all compartments. Impact at a depth of 130 metres, hitting the seafloor. Hoping to not get bombed again, because no more spare parts. But after a long time waiting the leak can be repaired, but the boat is full of water, surfacing is not possible, engines are fucked. Boat has to be slowly drained via the pump, all damage can just be repaired and Wilhelm is doing better.Immediate return to La Rochelle. On the way back, water bombs attacked from the air, but gun crew hit the aircraft after a few minutes. Arriving in port, the crew is decorated and given leave.
I'm looking forward to the full version and all the mods to come. Very enjoyable game :)

THIS: Everyone saying there is NO tutorial aside from loading goods and torpedoes onto your ship are WRONG. There are multiple tutorials including how to attack other ships.. just use your eyes and mouse and find them.
NEXT: This kind of game should be looked at as "an experience". Its a submarine simulation experience unlike any other. Is it replayable like Cities Skylines, Anno 1800, War Thunder etc? Probably not. You should play this game when you have some free time off and can immerse yourself for a good run of hours and enjoy the time at sea.
I RECCOMMEND: Play without saving. Live the life of your ship until she meets her end. That will add a LOT to the level of immersion and sense of drama.

This game is intense ! I want to share my first mission with you after playing the tutorial.
I was on my way to patrol around the British coast and 2 hours before dawn I went underwater to use my hydrophone, the sea is so dark (darker nights option in game) that you have the feeling on being in a dark void. The hydrophone crew reported multiple contacts 3-7 not sure. The sun rose and I went on periscope depth, now I saw them 2 freighters 1 destroyer and 2 smaller gunboats. I brought my ship into a 270° Position to the convoy, but they were smart and changed course from time to time so that they wont go on a straight line all the time. I adapted went to a range of 4 miles and let the crew work on the calculations for the first freighter. 2 torpedoes lunched and plot the course for the next ship before they impact ...done two more on the second one. 10 seconds till impact one missed the freighter a few inches at the back the other one hit !
The explosion was massive and the destroyer also the gunboats began to spread out and search for me. I turned away from the convoy full speed. The second 2 fired torpedoes hit both and the ship instantly sunk, the first one as well. Now I was the pray, the destroyer pinged with his sonar every 10 seconds, I went to 80 meters and could not go deeper in this part of the coast. The destroyer wants to get over me to drop his water bombs, I changed course 4 times to avoid that. Always that tense sound of the destroyers engine sound from my hydrophone in the background he lunched water bombs at some point, explosions everywhere around me. God bless I found a part in the ocean with 140 depth and went there as quick as possible, turned all engines off set all other things like the giro compass and the ventilation off and waited with the belly of my ship on the ground of the sea. Water bombs everywhere even the one of the gunboats were lunched now. It was intense, then silence. I checked the boat for some water leaks or damage I could not see otherwise, the crew ran around, the enemy gave up or thought we are dead, no damage found either. Now time forward mode (because it´s in real time otherwise) we got enough air for another 3 hours so I waited 2, then we started our rise to the surface, periscope out it looks good...at last fresh air !
This is the story of one adventure that waits for you, and many more to come.

At over 700 hours of playtime this is my favourite game ever. The developers have done an outstanding job and with a little bit of polish for the full release this will take some beating for quite some time for fans of WW2 naval warfare games.
