Trove
Your dogs have been dognapped by a beaked lunatic named Glorkon who stuffed them into his eye holes and is using their life essence to destroy the universe. You're partnered with Trover, a little purple eye-hole monster who isn’t a huge fan of working or being put in the position of having to save the universe. He’s also not that big a fan of you quite frankly, and neither am I. (Jk, you’re great) Only you and Trover can save everything in this bizarre comedy adventure, created by Justin Roiland! A comedy adventure filled with combat, platforming, puzzles, and morally questionable choices. See how the best intentions can go horribly awry. You control Trover's movements, but not his mouth. He’s got a lot to say about what’s going on in the game. Travel the cosmos to experience a variety of weird alien planets and bizarre characters with big personalities. Upgrade Trover AND YOURSELF with new abilities to (hopefully) defeat Glorkon while evading awkward situations. You'll be immersed in weirdness, no matter which display you use — play on TV, monitor or VR headset displays.

I had this one in my wishlist for a long time before finally pulling the trigger during a sale, and even then it sat in my backlog for many months before I finally got around to playing it. I had lots of concerns: a game intended for VR (which I don't have) that relies heavily on the "Rick & Morty" flavor and with dubious support on the Steam Deck. I loved High on Life, which gave me hope here.
I can say all of my fears were unfounded. The game runs perfectly well on the Steam Deck so ignore that the store page says it is unsupported. The game play itself is fairly weak as you are faced with fairly simple hack and slash action against a limited variety of enemies across several worlds. You gradually receive upgrades which you use to solve some fairly light puzzles. There is also a collecting element to the game as you try to find all of the power babies hidden around a world. That said, the game play is really just the framework needed to present the humor. If you enjoy the humor of High on Life or Rick and Morty you will likely enjoy the game. If you find that style of humor irritating then skip this one. I loved it, and found myself literally laughing out loud at some of the dialog from the characters. Yes, the game is intended for VR and that shows in the unusual way you use Trover to reposition your chair to view a portion of the world. That said, it plays just fine on the small screen and I don't think it loses anything for it.

If you're a fan of Rick and Morty, you'll feel right at home. The game includes some light puzzles and a decent amount of platforming, though it's not too difficult. I highly recommend playing it in VR, as it feels like a perfect fit, but it still works well without VR if you don’t have access to it.

Trover Saves The Universe
”Do you guys know what a wall is?”
”Non VR Review”
So I played this without VR just using a gamepad. The game is a fun platformer with combat and light puzzles.
It plays great and is an enjoyable game. Playing it in VR will of course be a more immersive experience
You could speed run the game in probably 5 hours. But if you take your time and do everything and enjoy the dialogue your looking about 10 hours.
If you like Rick & Morty and High on Life and their brand of loose almost improvisational humour, you will enjoy this.
It's a shame what has come out of the woodwork about Justin Roiland in the last couple of years, but if you ever were a fan I would highly recommend.
”VR Review”
Pending, should I ever be bothered to get VR.

Gameplay is way more innovative than the typical first person in VR concept. The whole idea of a sort of third person platformer, played by an observer who is also in the same world is pure genius and works so well. The writing and voice work is great, The visuals are incredibly well done. Everything about this game is brilliant.

So...Trover saves the universe, played right after High On Life, and it didn't disappoint, the humor is still there, which is something i love, The story is fun, and i specially love how Trover comments on things you do (specially if you fall of a cliff for example). I wasnt into the gameplay at first, but when i got used to it i enjoyed it fairly. The gameplay of being in a chair and controlling the character from a real outside perspective is something i didn't expect to enjoy. Props for being able to murder a lot of the NPCs haha. The story is...neat, and as a dog owner I'm 100% with saving them. I can't speak for the VR side of things, but with a controller, it was a fun game. The DLC i didn't enjoy as much but maybe i was just burned out. Overall a nice short game and a fairly easy achievement hunt. 8/10.

This is a legitimately funny game. If you're into Rick and Morty's sense of humor at all then I recommend it. It's the same but concentrated and uncut.

It's one of the best games and one of the funniest games in VR!
I'm not into Rick/Morty at all and I still found this fun.
I finished the game twice.
I enjoyed grinding the achievements, it wasn't boring or too hard, just the right amount.
The DLC is a nice touch!
