A fun blend of fantasy and magic, Trine evokes the timeless charm of a classic fairy tale. Even years after its release, the ability to switch between characters in its platformer setting, each with their own unique mechanics, remains engaging. I’ve spent the first few hours playing in single-player mode, and it’s been a joy. Next on my list? Trying it out in local co-op

Where everything started not from a big but from very small and unique. Combined with creative ideas and stuning visuals the series became something more. Clever puzzles and fun interaction with story and characters that pushes to its limits with every titles more and more into greater odyssey. What will comes next after that only time will tell but Trine should be loved and cherished to its core. Open next page of your steps into fairytale sprite.

Trine is a nice little game by Finnish developers Frozenbyte.
It is simple and easy, yet competently made, no wonder it spawned 4 more titles.
Trine is coop intended but can be played solo.
The puzzle sections are the main selling point of the game and are easy enough to be completed in many different ways.
That's when players can express their own style and display innovation.
Brute force your way as the Knight, parkour around as the Thief or just create pathways as the Wizard.
The competent physics make room for the players imagination.
The whimsical story was an afterthought and that can clearly be felt. Trine is gameplay over story.
What are the names of the protagonists again? I dunno..
What's the story and who is the villain? also dunno...
What started to annoy me is how the levels are all either dungeons or forests, we get little variety.
Same old mushrooms and discarded gears everywhere. (from what I saw, they remedy that in the sequels)
Oh and quitting the game forces you to go through an ad for "Trine 3" which is very annoying.
(also why Trine 3? The worst of the Trine games?)
Overall a nice little game that reminded me of old and simple PS2 era games
like "Spyro" or "Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom".
A decent entry and a fine start for the Trine journey.

Too be honest Trine 1 got everything right already, after that this serial didn't improvement much.
first thing first, the graphic and the music of this game are already in triple A levels, you could really tell this developer known how to coop detail things well.
the basic role are three peoples, one are fighter, one are mage, the rest one are archer, this role didn't change even in Trine 4 which it kind of ridiculous in my opinion this serial really need much revolution change for this serial, the puzzle part are not that well which most of times you jumping around and beg to found anything that could process that level, you often stuck in every levels and final you found a single rock or platform that allow you process which let player feeling terrible.
three classes of this game are not balance, most of times you control the warrior in near all of combat times, archer too slow to shoot down enemy and mage are a trash that deal nothing in combat, which you could say only the warrior are the only one to playing when face the enemy,
the finally are the chaos pickup system, you need tons of them to upgrade, but since this game game need jumping and platform, you often missing you could say near most of them if they are at some weird platform and high ground, still weird like the mage own more than 1 case but developer not clear how the later levels how you could solve the puzzle part.
I personal give this game not recommend rate, but this is a refined game and I just really hate to solve the puzzle and weird combat, I only recommend this, don't recommend Trine 2~4 which basically the same copy paste stuff.

This is a great plaformer.... to play with your wife or best friend. It's a co-op puzzle masterpiece, but there is no point in playing singleplayer. That's just too easy and takes away the fun of shouting at your partner to do X, and watch her do Y instead, killing you both...

I can't speak for a solo play through. My wife and I played Trine: Enchanted Edition via co op on my pc with Xbox controllers. It was an absolute fantastic experience. In our opinion, the graphics were incredible for a game of its age. We really enjoy games like this. Where you have to work together to complete the story line. In all our Trine adventures we've played Classic Mode (Where effectively you can only have up to 3 players, and only 1 of each character present: Amadeus, Zoya, and Pontius). It is a fantastic mix of puzzles, combat, and most importantly a bit of humor. We loved every second of our play through! It has a style and vibe similar to that of, "The Lost Vikings", because of the fact that each character has abilities that may or may not be useful for the current puzzles, dangers, and enemies you are facing. Just an over all great game. It was put together very well, and made for so many wonderful adventures for my wife and I.
