is ok. Is a blast play with friends with randomized maps. the vr is clusterfrick with no first person view and only few maps just for vr, don't buy it if you want to play it solely on vr.

This game is not for the faint of heart, for those that are not strong enough to last making it through all 200 tracks of the solo campaign, or for those that get angry easily. You WILL be frustrated when trying for serious medals.
This positive review comes with the following caveats:
- Multiplayer is fun if you can gather some friends together. However, I can't speak about how good or bad the full multiplayer experience is because I only played the solo campaign tracks with a friend to date - therefore, this review does not take the multiplayer side into account.
- Uplay hasn't been "bad" necessarily, but I'm noting this here as a "negative" aspect of the game.
- Finally, I have not tried the VR.
The solo campaign is an impressive challenge. It will really break you. Even to this day, over 1 million have started the game on this platform, and yet less than 2,000 have even completed the final track, #200. I do have my qualms about continuously requiring every gold medal to get to the final tracks in the game, but somehow it...fits the game's difficulty. You'll understand when you reach the final 40 tracks of the game. It is truly a worthy achievement to be one of not that many to have obtained the 200 (normal) Trackmasters of the solo campaign.
The game will challenge you in 4 disciplines - Canyon, Valley, Lagoon, and Stadium. All 4 will need to be mastered to make it to the end of the campaign, and even if you do make it there, there's one more surprise waiting for you, which won't be spoiled here (but I do hint at it~). All 4 have their own driving style and mechanics to understand, so there's really never a dull moment in the game.
The game also has an extremely high skill ceiling, just like other Trackmanias. In fact, going to space from here on Earth is still a shorter distance than the skill ceiling of this game.
However, there are a few (normal) Trackmasters that are downright on unfair level (looking at YOU, #105, but there were a few potential others that I don't quite recall right now), so I have to deduct points on that front. There ARE some levels that require a lot out of you in order to do well, and yet others almost feel like gimmies, so the difficulty "balance" could have been tighter.
In all, if you're looking for a challenge, this game is for you. If any of the above comments bother you (multiplayer not being the main focus, Uplay, some potentially unfair Trackmasters along the way), I then suggest you get this on sale at the cheapest price you can find. It's still worth a try at a cheap price, and it will be worth it if you persist.
I'm just upset they locked the use of #69 on your car behind such a hard goal. :P

Sadly the online component appears to be rather dead, but the single player is soooo good

It is fun. Most of the tracks are quite short but each of them contains a couple of challenges that takes several attempts to get right. It has the addictive element of "just one more track, then I will go to bed."
