Sheltered
STORY
"The Sheltered" is a top-down adventure game with an emphasis on exploration and decision making.
Players assume the role of a survivor in a world plagued by a deadly outbreak. The government announces their plans deal with monstrous infected by means of nuclear weapons. The plan: to bomb the area and eradicate everything. Lucky enough, there’s a fallout shelter in the player’s front yard – and enough food and water to last.
Now other survivors want in.
PREMISE
The main story begins once the hero has collected enough supplies to last himself in the shelter.
When other survivors show up, the player can decide who to bring into the shelter and who to leave outside. Survivors range from children to experienced adults that can offer the player help. The player can also bring animals into the shelter. Deciding who to save is the main premise of the game and will ultimately effect the ending.
However, it’s not enough to simply invite another survivor into the shelter. Each survivor requires additional supplies to last their stay. While the player only has enough for himself, he is free to explore the land and search for additional supplies. This is the adventure aspect of the game.
Combining old school graphics and simple gameplay with modern storytelling and a multitude of choices, "The Sheltered" pushes players to sacrifice their characters safety for their character’s morals.

This game is hard. It's a survival game where you have to survive after a nuclear apocalypse.
Biggest tip I can give you.... BEFORE you play survivor mode, you must complete the "surrounded" scenario. This will give you the Defibrillator which you need to revive unconscious members of your family. Nowhere does it tell you to do this and you'll land up losing your game without it eventually.
Food, water and materials are all vitally important. Drinking, showering, going to the toilet, watering your plants, they all use water and without it you'll have very unhappy, dirty people in your shelter.
ALWAYS shower first after coming back from an expedition. If you eat before showering, you'll get food poisoning.
Look at your traits for each member carefully. Sometimes it's good to have well-rounded characters, other times you need a mix of characters that you can focus on specific tasks. And don't forget that with good traits, come bad traits. I'm not 100% how it chooses which bad ones to allocate.
Other than that, it's a tough game, but rewarding. I'm on the second scenario which is totally different from survivor and the first scenario and I lost the game 2 days before the end. But have started again.
I'm enjoying it, hating it, shouting at it and loving it again, over and over.

I absolutely love this game. I remember it as a kid when it first came out but never played it until a couple months ago and man does it still hit. I've heard horrible things about the sequel which is such a shame because I love the gameplay and art style. 10/10 so peak dude

Nice game to play on your laptop when your on the go!
Steam workshop would be nice but the Devs flopped hard with the sequel.
Fun game but games stale after you survive over 100 days

Its one of those games thats easy to play but hard to master.
The tempo is very slow, you can speed up but its still rather slow.
Great game idea and from what ive played it is a great game.
The bored factor may hit you like it did me after only 6 hours of play, its very repetitive and making progress past tier 3 just becomes a chore. Its a heavy micro management game and you will get sick of answering the radio every 10 seconds.
It is however a great concept and fun, its well worth purchasing and having in your collection. Give it a go!

One of my favorite survival games! Cool visuals, deep mechanics...and a huge amount of potential for additions and improvements. I don’t know why the devs decided to abandon this project and focus on the sequel, but they clearly missed an opportunity to create something truly unique, with some almost Fallout-like elements... At least for now

This is a great minimalist survival sim. While I wouldn't say it's as in-depth as some of its more contemporary competitors, I will say that it was easily worth both my time and my money spent playing it.

Was a fun game at a reasonable price. Would have loved to see expansions.
