The Riftbreaker
Roadmap
DISCORD
About the GameYou play the role of captain Ashley S. Nowak – you are the Riftbreaker, an elite scientist/commando inside a powerful Mecha-Suit. Enter a one-way portal to Galatea 37, a distant planet at the far reaches of the Milky Way Galaxy, with the purpose of building up a base that will allow travel back to Earth and further colonization. Ashley’s Mecha-suit, which she calls "Mr. Riggs", can withstand the harshest environmental conditions and has a full range of equipment for base construction, resource extraction, gathering specimens and of course – combat. It is capable of traveling through rifts that connect space across vast distances.BASE BUILDING
Your task is to construct a two-way rift back to Earth. It is a very complex invention and requires enormous amounts of energy. Simple solar collectors and a few tons of steel will not be enough. You will need to build up a complex chain of mines, refineries, powerplants and research facilities to complete this mission.DEFENSE
Your presence on this planet will not go unnoticed. As you build up your industry and disrupt the natural order, the world will start seeing you as a threat. Build up your defenses. Construct walls, barriers and defense towers as the attacks get stronger with every passing day. You will face thousands of hostile creatures trying to eliminate your presence.EXPLORATION
Galatea 37 is an unknown planet in the Sycorax belt of the Milky Way galaxy. Long distance surveys detected that it is inhabitable and perfect for colonization. The planet is full of rare minerals and substances that can be found in various locations around the globe. Varied biomes can surprise you with unknown fauna and flora as well as harsh weather conditions. Construct local outposts in resource-rich locations that will transport the required resources using rift technology.CAMPAIGN
Take on an epic journey across all the different biomes of Galatea 37. You will establish multiple persistent bases across the globe that will fuel your economy. Research alien substances and lifeforms, as well as fight hordes of alien creatures, clearly not happy with your interference in the natural order of the planet. The campaign spans multiple hours and offers a remarkable degree of freedom in a super detailed, procedurally generated world. You can decide on the order of your priorities and what technologies you want to use. You’re the only human there, after all.SURVIVAL
Your mission is to survive a set amount of time, fighting off increasingly difficult waves of enemy creatures. Each mission in the game is randomized, offering nearly endless replayability.SANDBOXIf intense fight for survival is not your thing either, then try out the Sandbox mode, where we give you control over the entire game – including resources, enemy spawns, and weather conditions.CUSTOMIZE YOUR GAMEPLAYThe Riftbreaker™’s gameplay can be customized to fit your playstyle. You can change the frequency of enemy attacks as well as their strength and numbers, resource abundance, weather events, enemy damage, and tons of other settings. There are also multiple difficulty presets to suit the needs of both hardcore strategy players as well as those that want a laid-back base-building experience.COMMUNITY DRIVEN DEVELOPMENTIf you’ve read everything and arrived all the way down here, then you might be interested in helping us shape the game. The story of Riftbreaker, not the story in the game, but the story *of* the game, is a fascinating one, and one which the big development studios should take notice of. This review is being written August 25, 2025, when the Co-Op function was added to the game, but I've been playing it since release. I would have recommended it back then, but now I absolutely have to.
This game was made with no intention of multiplayer functionality, but because it's the perfect kind of game to play with friends, there was a huge outpouring of requests for it and the devs at EXOR set about the herculean task of adding multiplayer. Through the long saga of this function's development, they've kept up a regular series of updates on the process, but didn't skimp on regular gameplay content releases at the same time. EXOR is an exemplar of game development studios, willing to put in the hard work for something their community deeply desires.
As for the game itself, if you liked the factorybuilder games that came before, and the tower-defense elements that some of them had, Riftbreaker will feel like a familiar but fresh experience, with its own innovations and focuses on the genres. The story mode is fantastic with phenomenal voice acting as well.
I cannot recommend this game enough. Riftbreaker is what happens when devs are passionate about their project and willing to put in the hard work to see it through. EXOR is a model that other devs should aspire to, and Riftbreaker is a helluva fun time.

This game wasn't released with co-op when it come out but devs have been working hard to make it possible. They have reached open beta stage for co-op. Never heard of another company that done so much for there fans without costing a sub or so.

I like ARPG's. I like factory sims. I like this game, because it's an insanely good casual combination of the two genres.

I'm not autistic enough for Factorio, but I am autistic enough to enjoy this game.

Hours Played: 18.7h (so far)
Verdict: ★★★★★ / Super Addictive
I’ve had so much progress and fun in just 18.7 hours, and I’m definitely going to keep playing more. The Riftbreaker is one of those games where every session feels rewarding — you always unlock something new, upgrade your mech, expand your base, or survive a crazy wave that makes you feel like a genius.
Why I’m loving it:
Base-building is deep and satisfying
Combat feels powerful and smooth
Tons of things to progress, research, and upgrade
Every biome looks incredible and has its own challenges
That “just one more mission” feeling is REAL
Final thoughts:
If you like sci-fi, automation, tower defense, or mech combat, this game mixes all of them perfectly.
Had a great 18.7 hours — and I’m not stopping anytime soon.
Highly recommended.

I don't write reviews often, and this one I am writing looooong after I have abandoned the game (though surely will pick it up again one day).
What can I say, rarely you see such a dedication, effort and love put into a game. I mean, production value is just above any expectations from a relatively small team. It is a SOLID product, meaning when you buy this you will get:
* no experience breaking bugs
* nice visuals and sound
* solid gameplay (if you enjoy this kind of games)
* engaging progression
* continuous support (and updates!)
* ...and a lot more that I have forgotten over years, or haven even seen as I missed a couple of major updates :)
Imo not so many games can offer this for the price. Kudos to the team, you made something that I have sincerely enjoyed, every single moment of it. Keep rocking, guys!

For me in 2026, this is still the BEST tower defence game on the market, been playing since original release for nearly 4 years now on GoG, The Dlc packs are good additions, and sense of destruction is fantastic once your unlocking all the top tiers
Ignore my Steam playtime, got about 400+ Hrs on my GOG account version, only repurchased on Steam as it's less faff to join co-op with steam friends.
