The Riftbreaker
Roadmap
DISCORD
About the GameYou play the role of captain Ashley S. Nowak – you are the Riftbreaker, an elite scientist/commando inside a powerful Mecha-Suit. Enter a one-way portal to Galatea 37, a distant planet at the far reaches of the Milky Way Galaxy, with the purpose of building up a base that will allow travel back to Earth and further colonization. Ashley’s Mecha-suit, which she calls "Mr. Riggs", can withstand the harshest environmental conditions and has a full range of equipment for base construction, resource extraction, gathering specimens and of course – combat. It is capable of traveling through rifts that connect space across vast distances.BASE BUILDING
Your task is to construct a two-way rift back to Earth. It is a very complex invention and requires enormous amounts of energy. Simple solar collectors and a few tons of steel will not be enough. You will need to build up a complex chain of mines, refineries, powerplants and research facilities to complete this mission.DEFENSE
Your presence on this planet will not go unnoticed. As you build up your industry and disrupt the natural order, the world will start seeing you as a threat. Build up your defenses. Construct walls, barriers and defense towers as the attacks get stronger with every passing day. You will face thousands of hostile creatures trying to eliminate your presence.EXPLORATION
Galatea 37 is an unknown planet in the Sycorax belt of the Milky Way galaxy. Long distance surveys detected that it is inhabitable and perfect for colonization. The planet is full of rare minerals and substances that can be found in various locations around the globe. Varied biomes can surprise you with unknown fauna and flora as well as harsh weather conditions. Construct local outposts in resource-rich locations that will transport the required resources using rift technology.CAMPAIGN
Take on an epic journey across all the different biomes of Galatea 37. You will establish multiple persistent bases across the globe that will fuel your economy. Research alien substances and lifeforms, as well as fight hordes of alien creatures, clearly not happy with your interference in the natural order of the planet. The campaign spans multiple hours and offers a remarkable degree of freedom in a super detailed, procedurally generated world. You can decide on the order of your priorities and what technologies you want to use. You’re the only human there, after all.SURVIVAL
Your mission is to survive a set amount of time, fighting off increasingly difficult waves of enemy creatures. Each mission in the game is randomized, offering nearly endless replayability.SANDBOXIf intense fight for survival is not your thing either, then try out the Sandbox mode, where we give you control over the entire game – including resources, enemy spawns, and weather conditions.CUSTOMIZE YOUR GAMEPLAYThe Riftbreaker™’s gameplay can be customized to fit your playstyle. You can change the frequency of enemy attacks as well as their strength and numbers, resource abundance, weather events, enemy damage, and tons of other settings. There are also multiple difficulty presets to suit the needs of both hardcore strategy players as well as those that want a laid-back base-building experience.COMMUNITY DRIVEN DEVELOPMENTIf you’ve read everything and arrived all the way down here, then you might be interested in helping us shape the game. This game wasn't released with co-op when it come out but devs have been working hard to make it possible. They have reached open beta stage for co-op. Never heard of another company that done so much for there fans without costing a sub or so.

This game is a gem, a work of passion: Devs has been committed to not just improve the game, adding content, cooking up co-op mode etc... they have most recently announced Riftbreaker 2.0, which is more of an overhaul rather than an update and not as a paid DLC either.
Based devs pricing this Masterpiece a fraction of 'modern AAA' or dare-i-say 'AAAA' games and over-delivering in all aspects compared to said AAA games, this level of value is astonishing in 2025. The game is optimised and the visuals are more than stunning- literally stunning (the glowing biome on HDR1000 slaps). Yes the dialogue may be cheesy at point, but with these visuals and game play- It doesnt really matter in my books.
I have completed a campaign play through on launch (2021), and recently re-visited thanks to closed beta co-op, all I would comment is, this game has aged like fine-wine. My second play through had many new content which made it refreshing. This goes to show how committed the devs are to their game.

Riftbreaker is one of those "Ronseal" games that 'does exactly what it says on the tin'. It scratches the build-a-fort-and-defend-it itch like a tower defence game but fleshes out that core premise with characters & narrative, exploration, research & upgrades etc etc. It's a small indie team so it's not got AAA production values but what is here is competent and well made.
I've decided to write this review now because some entitled, ignorant ****-wits are spreading misinformation about the game and leaving negative reviews that are completely unjustifiable. Riftbreaker was NOT designed or advertised with co-op or multiplayer in mind but since the game has been relatively successful the developers are currently working to add it.
This is a considerable task for a small team and the fact that people with zero understanding of game development are whinging that it isn't being done fast enough is bad enough but to actively lie about it having been a 'promised' feature that hasn't been delivered is despicable. There's an ABUNDANCE of bad developers and publishers who have lied and mislead their audiences to choose from if you want to be mad online about this kind of issue - go bother one of those instead of slandering one of the decent ones.

Amazing and well designed 3rd person basebuilding and combat. This style can be a tricky beast to make fun and not overwhelm the player, and EXOR have done it. There are peaceful moments, intense moments, and it's all fun and thoughtful.
I especially love how they have avoided the trope of "evil corporate greed exploits alien planet". The main character is very concerned about conservation and understanding the local ecology, while the AI mecha suit takes a more objective oriented view. Much of the dialogue is actually discussions and disagreements about preserving or saving local organisms / ecosystems. How refreshing!!!!
I have played the base game and all available DLC as of the date of this review, and I've enjoyed everything they have to offer. I highly recommend Riftbreaker!

Almost 200hrs in.
Dont let the negative feedbacks fool you...there are barely any and when there are, its for minor reasons!
So :
You love Gathering & Base building? Buy it!
You love Tower Defense? Buy it!
You love managing resources in multiple ways...while any ways win? Buy it!
You love exploring, You love hack & slash? Buy it!
Yes, the developement of multi-player is a bit slow...
Its not a multibillion $ company so : Suck-it-up haters...They promised it and its coming when its gonna ready...
Give it a go! Give it a second go when multi-player is released! Twice your investment!
The game crashed on me maybe 3 times over 200hrs of gameplay, and like any games : You get use to auto save, you never really loose much gameplay time.
All in all, this game is a GEM!!!
And i'd love to see more developpers work on such wide-type-areas of gameplay.
If you still have doubts...then I dont know what kind of game your looking for...
Your probly reading the 1/1000 negative feed back and making your opinion out of a single soul who has a negative opinion on so many levels...or a tunnel vision on a single aspect of the game that turned him off.

Overall it is good and worth a play through. Dialog is cringy but it is kind of endearing. Base building is fun and defending against tons of enemies is fun. The biggest problems are with the pacing and depth of objectives. You have essentially unlimited time to research everything and most of the game is acquiring new resource types in different areas. All of a sudden you have enough resources to do the final objective. Then you do it and it just kind of...ends? That aspect is quite disappointing.
Additionally, objectives are quite limited in scope and depth. They are one of build thing, defend thing, find thing, or kill thing. Just felt repetitive over time.

Build, discover, research, fight, survive. Love the campaign and can't wait for coop release.
In addition game has very cool Twitch integration.
