'The Palace of Unrest' is a short horror-themed game where you're trapped in a mansion property and must find a way to escape. This game features a threatening pursuer, mysterious interactable objects, well-crafted horror sounds, puzzles based on clues in the form of poem exerpts from Edgar Allen Poe,Unreal Engine powered lighting and weather effects, and 4 achievements.
Completing the game and unlocking all achievements took me approximately 5 minutes, making it possible to accomplish everything in a single sitting. While the game has only one ending and lacks a save feature, its straightforward instructions make it accessible to players of all skill levels, earning it a low difficulty rating of 1/10.
Set within a haunting mansion, the game successfully blends mystery and atmosphere, making the player feel the eerie weight of isolation and danger. The clever use of poems, particularly excerpts from Edgar Allen Poe, adds a literary depth to the puzzles, making them feel more than just obstacles—they become pieces of a chilling narrative.
Visually, the game shines. The Unreal Engine brings the mansion to life with its moody lighting and weather effects that amplify the suspense. The environment itself is an essential part of the experience, with interactable objects adding layers of intrigue as you search for clues. It's clear that a lot of care went into building the atmosphere, which makes exploring the dark corners of the mansion as thrilling as it is unnerving.
However, the game isn’t without its flaws. The AI of the knight—a threatening figure you must evade—leaves something to be desired. The lackluster AI detracts from what could have been a more intense and engaging experience. Additionally, some bugs pop up here and there, reminding you that the game isn't perfect. Despite this, 'The Palace of Unrest' is free, and for that alone, it’s worth a playthrough. The effort put into crafting the puzzles and atmosphere is commendable, and while I wish the execution were a bit more polished, I appreciate the developer's work.
Ultimately, I'd recommend this game for those who enjoy puzzle-solving in a creepy setting, but temper your expectations and don't expect a flawless experience.

Fantastic for a free game, especially made by two guys. Was an easy 30 minuteish run with some neat poem puzzles. The first appearance of the night actually got me with a good jumpscare when I turned around

Fun little way to waste some time. The trick to getting the first key was kind of lost on me, and I'm not even sure if I understood the clue (if there was one at all). I spent more time getting the first key than I did on the whole game once I got started. Wasn't bad for a free game, and at least it looked pretty. Got 2 scares outta me.

Tiny game and although it's pretty, it seems kind of odd that it's so demanding on the cpu. Like all of the fans kicked on immediately on starting the game. I dropped the graphics settings and that helped some.
SPOILER BELOW
The enemy is so pitifully slow that he almost feels like an npc you could talk to.

Frustrating and exactly what a co-op puzzle game should be
