Really nice game from a more couch player point of view.
Pro:
- A very beginner friendly KOF game. My experience is mostly playing KOF98 and that one is quite brutal compared to how easy this one is to just pick and go. XIV even has a RUSH attack that is the equivalent i'd say to old mortal combat fist pummels. Quite easy to evade as it needs to be close but very effective when it connects. And requires only rapid hitting of a button so 'beginner friendly' really means it. Reward is a cool looking series of punches and kicks.
- Easy to learn special moves. The difficult parts come to play when learning to cancel from one special to an even higher level of special and those are not mandatory to get somewhere in the game.
- Difficulty doesn't spike suddenly. This means even newbies can beat story/unlock stuff and get somewhere. Doing a tour with all the new or old and famous trios to unlock stuff is most recommended. A real blast to me even though the main story is pure madness. Luckily there are specific videos presented depending on which trio you are playing.
- Huge roster. Familiar and unfamiliar faces to me. Time to start learning more about them and that is big part of the fun. This game is not that much about focusing on one character and one character only as the base game play is a 3-on-3 anyways as usual.
- No crashes and no bugs encountered. (Solo only, no online)
Con:
- Weird pricing:: 54.99€ right now which is only 5 eur lower than the latest XV title. Incomprehensible to me so get this one on sales.
And no other real cons that i can think of from a couch players perspective. Online players and those who go deep into mechanics will probably have their own say but from a pure 'lets grab the arcade stick and play' -sense this is golden. XIV is simply a great pack of action that i don't regret buying at all. With my hours i have just started to unlock stuff and there is plenty more to come and slowly learning more advanced tricks without concentrating on just one character. On average i think there is some really good design here, i was though pretty sold with this 3-on-3 fighting in KOF98 already but it's clear sticking to their guns and polishing the core game play is how SNK is able to give resistance to the big titles and i see no reason why this would be inferior to more well known titles.
So if you are in some old comfort zone and SNK games are unknown, take a leap (when the price is right) and try it out!

Man, I waited for years to write this review, because I was not sure what game was better, this or XIII. And finally ended writing the KOF XV review before this.
Aniway, this is a phenomenal fighting game that compares favorably to its successor, in many ways. While KOF XV is a solid game, KOF XIV Steam Edition is even better, offering better stages with more Easter eggs, a slightly better roster with some fan-favorite characters like Alice, Zarina, Kim (I know he will become dlc on XV), Sylvie, Love, and more, better team compositions (Mexico, Brazil, etc.), and a gameplay that's not far behind XV. Many players may find the KOF XIV Steam Edition to be even better than KOF XV, depending on personal preference. For me I love the roster and the stages more, and that's a big difference for me. (Sorry B. Jenet)
In summary, King of Fighters XIV Steam Edition is an exceptional fighting game that's definitely worth playing for any fans of the genre. Whether you're a longtime fan of the series or someone looking for a fun new fighting game to play, King of Fighters XIV Steam Edition is a game that you won't want to miss, but with a small warning. No rollback. Buy ey, at least you have a full finished game without need to pay tons on DLC. That's worth something, isn't?

The King of Fighters XIV is a fighting game developed by SNK and released on Steam in 2017. The game features a roster of over 50 characters, each with their own unique moves and abilities.
One of the strengths of The King of Fighters XIV is its gameplay mechanics. The game offers a wide range of moves and combos that are accessible to both beginners and experienced players. The game also features a new Max Mode, which allows players to unleash powerful moves and combos at the cost of their entire super meter.
The game's visuals are also impressive, with detailed character models and vibrant, colorful backgrounds. The game's soundtrack is also noteworthy, with an excellent selection of high-energy tracks that perfectly match the game's fast-paced action.
However, the game's roster of characters can be overwhelming for newcomers, and some characters can feel unbalanced compared to others. The game's online multiplayer can also be hit or miss, with lag and connection issues sometimes impacting the overall experience.
Overall, The King of Fighters XIV is an excellent fighting game that offers a wealth of content for both casual and competitive players. Its accessible gameplay mechanics and impressive visuals make it a standout in the genre, though its roster of characters can be intimidating for newcomers. If you're a fan of fighting games, The King of Fighters XIV is definitely worth checking out.

I know I'm very late to this party but... the KING lives up to its name once again.
Never change, SNK.

Sad as I am to say, if you've played KOF XV already, there's really no reason to get this one beyond maybe the different roster and *slightly* - SLIGHTLY - better single-player content. And some other nitpicks that XV has that XIV doesn't (e.g., the downgraded ki effects or better variety of stages).
And even then, YMMV on whether or not you prefer XIV's roster to XV's. The majority of my mains are already in XV, but one character is still stuck in XIV (being best gi-er, I mean Vice).
I'll put 'recommend' by default so as to give this game a positive review, but personally, I'm mixed.
