The Hong Kong Massacre

Take on the role of a former police detective bent on exacting vengeance for his partner's murder and use of a mixture of raw firepower, slow-motion and dive/dodge mechanics to tear your way through the criminal ranks. Dive through windows or dodge behind cover – every shot is lethal, so stay aware of your surroundings and exploit the environment however you can. When the heat is on, you can slow down time and plan for the next move. Avoiding bullets whilst taking out enemies is crucial for survival – but beware, your slow-motion ability is limited: plan fast, think ahead and bring down the bad guys unscathed. Each level features a range of challenges, allowing you to to unlock new weapons as you progress, trading bullets from restaurants to rooftops across a moody, crime-riddled city.

I would like to appreciate the game. Truly. The Art Style is sympathic, the gameplay is correct and the story is kinda good, and the slow-mo is a great element. There is a feeling of 80' Chinese mafia movies, and the slowmo at the end of the level or at your death at flavor to it !
But the last quarter of the game is truly unfair. NPC seeing from across the level, your bullets stopping at the end of your screen.
And my god the music. Not appropriate to the game or setting of the story. I didn't like it. The one during cutscene was good, but the same track playing for most, if not all, levels.... At the end, i was playing the music off. I guess i've played too much of Hotline Miami, as I was expecting 1 song by level.
Will i recommend the game ? Yes, but be prepared to frustation and 1 song loopîng will playing. And the slow-mo is an interessting gameplay element, so Yeah
Otherwise, nah

This game is a top-down shooter focusing on recreating that scene from the John Wick movie; you know the one seen from the top down where he shoots at his assailants with a shotgun loaded with dragon's breath rounds.
Honestly, I was skipping the "story" parts. I was more interested in the gameplay and the challenges that each segments have, but from what I read while pressing "Skip", you're someone going alone for revenge at a criminal organisation. Therefore, you enter buildings and blast your weapons.
Gameplaywise, it's pretty much W-A-S-D to move around, mouse to aim and shoot, and spacebar to activate slowmotion. The graphics are decent. Nothing to complaint about there.
Where I have a "problem" is the enemy AI reaction time and behavior in general. You enter a door and they aim-bot you while already firing. So, if you don't dive to dodge, you're dead. That's weird, as if they were just waiting for the door to slightly move to start shooting. Meanwhile, you have the enemies patrolling the next area, hearing all the gunshots, but still taking stroll and chilling. Then, you open the door, and they aim-bot you again. Ideally, from the first gunshot, all the surrounding enemies should get alerted. Then, the aim-bot gets justified.
That's it. It's a cool concept and the challenges are fun to accomplish.
7.5/10. I recommend even at full price.
