The Dark Inside Me - Chapter: II is a good but an extremely weird point and click horror game and a good sequel to the first game, now then the story. After surviving a second assassination attempt our nameless protagonist finds himself lost in the woods, he must escape and he must figure out what the hell's going on, but unfortunately for him any kind of rational explanation will go out the window again as he will confront a cult, monsters and even his own past.
Now then the likes, well the story is okay and very, very weird it does answer some questions, but it leaves you with more questions than answers. Like I said it's very weird like with strange characters, absurd scenarios, gratuitous sex scenes and just what the fuck moments it's sort of like a David Lynch or Konami kind of game on how fucking weird it is. The characters are good, but they're also weird and crazy like hell the most normal character is our main character and even he is a little bit nuts.
The graphics are still good actually maybe even a bit better which again as you know this was made by one guy, so it was its quite impressive on what he did for colors, designs and scenery. But facial animation is kind of weird though especially for the Lucy character, when you first meet her she looks stoned out of her gourd. The levels are still good each one quite diverse and unique especially this one level that reminded me of that second level in that sanatorium game.
The gameplay is okay relatively the same as it has the same problem the first game had, but I do feel like they at least kind of improved it just a tiny bit. The music is good with some nice tracks to listen too. The voice acting is okay a lot of it sounds wooden or just weird, but at least the main character isn't whispering a lot of the time. The kill animation in this game is good, but I feel it’s not as good as the first game.
Okay is this game scary no it doesn't even have jump scares like the first game had this is just disturbing and weird as hell, I don't mind though but still it's not as scary as the first game and that game was barely scary at all.
Now then the dislikes, well like I said about the first game this game has bugs in it too, nothing really game breaking other than my game shutting down once or twice. Still no words appearing over the items and movements can still be a bit of a pain. Also the game does end on a cliffhanger that leaves more questions than answers; I don't think this game will be getting a third installment anytime soon.
Finally like I said in the first game this is less of a dislike but more of a warning, this game can be extremely graphic like there's a lot of gratuitous sex scenes and nudity to the point where it's actually kind of humorous in a way if not completely fucked up.
Okay with that said The Dark Inside Me - Chapter: II is a good but an extremely weird point and click horror game and a good sequel to the first game, with an okay story, good graphics and okay gameplay. So do I recommend this game I mean if you enjoyed the weird so bad it's good quality of the first game, then you may actually enjoy this game, but I do recommend getting it on sale.
