This game is way better than it has any right to be. It clearly had a small budget but was made by a team that also clearly had a passion for the project. Play it on the hardest difficulty for a slightly "souls-like" experience which actually requires you to manage your limited resources and choose your fights wisely. Is it a AAA horror game no? Is it a unique horror with aspects rarely covered in horror? Yes.
Is it terrifying? No. But neither are the AAA horrors are they? Does it get you with a few well timed jump scares? Of course!
Overall this is a great game to pick up on sale and can be beaten in one or two sittings. Perfect for those of us with less time to play than we'd like.

I honestly have mixed feelings about this. While I enjoyed the journey at the end I was also kind of relieved it was over.
First of all I really like the cult setting and the atmosphere this game gives off. Graphics look great too and performance is not an issue at all. Characters are honestly quite forgettable and the story has some weird parts, but is overall enjoyable.
My biggest grime with this game is actually the combat. Maybe it's just me but the excessive combat just felt very off with this game. Maybe I was expecting a game that this is not? In my opinion the game would've been greater if there was less combat and more focus on the atmosphere. Sometimes it is very overwhelming if you have to fight multiple enemies, and if you die you get pulled out of the atmosphere.
I think overall this game is a good and worth experience though. It is quite short but I think it is the correct length for what it offers. My recommendation is to play it on the easiest difficulty if you want to focus on the atmosphere and story rather than the gameplay.

So, this game has some jank. The combat is frustrating, and the story is just okay. But the monster designs are cool, it made me jump a couple times, and I enjoyed it throughout. The pacing is good, and made me want to keep playing. Get it on sale if you're interested (I got it for $3, and had fun with it for 9 hours). There's also a free DLC that addresses some of these criticisms, so kudos to the devs for that.

Decent light horror game. It's not very difficult or scary (which is why I call it "light horror"), but I had fun exploring the world and unlocking new abilities and weapons. Combat is pretty simple and mostly about using the right tools (and dodging). If you're looking for a big challenge, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a small game to immerse yourself in for a few hours, this is pretty good.
Also the free DLC offers a few more hours of more combat focused gameplay (and one really annoying section). Set after the main game and with a new ending, definitely best played after the main game though.

Pros:
- Good Story
- Good Graphics
- Not taking cults too seriously
Cons:
- Combat system was a bit frustrating
-buttons not intuitive on keyboard
- Getting animation locked for too long dodging during combat.
- Not enough materials to craft the weapons you need to effectively target creature types
(certain crafting ingredients too scarce)
- Would have preferred a playthrough path where "drinking the koolaid wore off"
-Choosing an ending based on 'which type of creatures you killed more and which items you used' seemed odd when you don't give players the right items at the right times to do that effectively

Very fun survival horror game. Starts a bit slow. Atmosphere was exceptionally well done, it was just what I wanted and expected out of it. Had a great time collecting all the achievements, even though it requires multiple playthroughs game never gets dull or annoying. DLC with extra content is free and includes achievements which are a bit more difficult than in the base game, but nonetheless doable.

I had a great time with this, and the free Gloom Below DLC campaign really rounded the whole experience out. I was not expecting to be wowed and ended up with a lot of affection for the characters, setting, systems, combat, and just the whole experience overall.
I still can't believe how well the DLC worked for me; maybe if I'd struggled with it more it would have worn on me, but I ended up doing almost all of it in a single run after a couple early deaths.
