You slowly rise from the cold, damp floor. All you can see are flickering fluorescent lights and yellowed walls. You do not remember how, when, or why you ended up here. Your memory has been torn apart by an unknown force.
The constant hum of the lighting and the silence fill the air in these seemingly endless hallways.
Who are you? The answer to that question eludes your mind. All you can cling to is the certainty that you do not belong in this place.
Your senses tell you that you are alone, but the air suggests otherwise; something or someone is watching you from the shadows.
Anxiety begins to take shape, and the pressure on your chest becomes overwhelming. However, the need to survive drives you to maintain composure.
You will take control of David Campbell, who remembers absolutely nothing. Therefore, as you progress through the levels to survive, you must try to remember why you are in that place. But don’t worry, you are not alone; an organization specialized in the Backrooms will serve as your guide on some occasions. However, you must adapt to that hell if you want to keep on living.
A first-person horror video game featuring innovative mechanics like ‘Echoes of the Past,’ puzzles, and chilling pursuits that will make your skin crawl. Moreover, you’ll be able to use your “creativity” to escape from the levels.
With this title, we aimed to provide a unique atmosphere to maximize immersion into the Backrooms. There are moments of heightened tension and more tranquil interludes where they are needed.

It's a fairly well made and enjoyable backrooms game. However, there is only the first level of the backrooms and it takes about 20 minutes to finish. For me, just a prologue is not worth $1.99. If the game advertised itself as a short introduction that'd be one thing, but it does not.
Edit: Changed to positive based on the developer response and updated store page description. If you like these kind of games and you're cool with it currently being on the shorter side, I'd say check it out.

Not to bad, I will say it may glitch if you accidentally exit or go to fast, and it did take a couple tries for the monster with the key card room as I had no idea how to get past it, until I realized what the subtitles said about the monster not noticing. But overall I enjoyed it. Wish there was more to this game. ¡Gracias! ¡Estuvo muy bien!

A first person horror video game featuring innovative mechanics, puzzles and chilling pursuits, The Backrooms Regret brings with it more voice acting than I think any other backrooms game has so far (one line of dialogue came so unexpectedly I was jump scared by it) and an interesting and somewhat original story.
This does not feel like a finished game and I believe/hope there are plans to add more levels down the line. Consider this, then, a prologue to the game and you won't be disappointed. The puzzles were fun to solve, the enemies were terrifying and challenging with their own unique behaviours that would either help you or hinder you in avoiding them. Overall, in exploring this version of the backrooms, I had a great time! An for a free game I'd say it's well worth a play if you enjoy the backrooms genre.
