The Adventure Pals is an action-packed platformer about friendship, exploration, and riding your giraffe. And, of course, the age-old tale of an evil madman with the nefarious plan of turning old people into delicious hot dogs.
Mr. B is kidnapping old people and turning them into hot dogs! It’s up to you and your best buds, Mr. Rock and Sparkles the Giraffe, to save the day. Leap, slash, and blast your way through increasingly madcap levels. Along the way you’ll help a whale regain confidence, take a side in the battle between toast and dinosaurs, and travel to a legendary sunken city to decide the result of a Pirate election.

Great game. The music and visuals are phenomenal and the game feels great, if your using a controller that is. The combat is simple but it doesn't need to be too complex. The stages are fun but they drag on for a little too long. The art style is one of the best parts of the game. I do have to say, some of the collectibles are too easy to get, and some are easier to get than actually beating that part of the level. Also, the game is way too easy up until world 4, where there is a noticeable difficulty spike. Other than that, this game is great.

Fun action platformer. Not too difficult. And never really frustrating. Per level you have 5 sublevels and each sublevel has a cupcake to collect. In the level there is also a sticker somewhere to be found for your scrapbook.
If you missed one, you can return to the level and select the sublevel you want to replay. So you don't need to replay from level 1. I found that very important. Otherwise I wouldn't played it that long.
Graphics are cartoony, detailed and have funny touches. The conversations are also funny.
I played it on my Steamdeck and it is excellent suited for that.
Overall a good game. I would give it 8.5 / 10.

Yes.
Feel like I should be having more fun with this than I am.
I absolutely love the humour, the art style and the general feel of the game. However I think the problem is that the levels just keep going on way longer than they should. I guess I'm a bit too old for this one and they're just too easy. I can see myself enjoying playing this with my son when he's a little bit older.
I would have put a bit more emphasis on fleshing out the combat mechanics rather than having quite so many platforming sections.
In the end I stopped playing. But I think this does do exactly what it says on the tin and therefore is an easy recommend for anyone thinking of picking it up. I got it on a deep discount and it was absolutely well worth the money.

Quite a fun little platformer with some humour sprinkled about. If you enjoy vibrant colours and decent movement then this game is a great pickup. It's nothing extreme and the combat is real basic but lightheartedly as a time killer for a few hours its pretty good. Would recommend for some unserious gaming

A not too easy, not too hard platformer. For reasons, (literally the explanation the bad guy says in the exposition) Mr. B is turning all the old people into hot dogs and has taken your dad on your birthday to continue this dastardly plan. So with your trusty pals you set off to rescue him and solve everyone else's problems along the way. Be it getting a whale a panty or teaming up with a pirate to get her supply of root beer back, this game is entertaining from start to finish and the controls feel great to boot! I imagine the local co-op would be a blast as well, but I "cheated" for the achievement because I just hooked up a second controller and pressed play. :p But yeah! Defs a title worth picking up!

The game presents an enchanting first impression in all departments, though its charm becomes less compelling with extended play. While the visuals draw inspiration from beloved series like Adventure Time, the aesthetic feels disconnected from the game's core elements rather than serving the overall experience.
The writing starts with promise, offering quirky encounters and humorous moments. However, the humor tends to rely on simple subversions (like a whale wanting to wear a thong) without building toward deeper comedic or narrative payoffs. The story, while whimsical, doesn't quite develop its initial potential. It suffers from a peculiar form of self-awareness that ultimately undermines itself. While it attempts to satirize gaming tropes - with villains announcing their absurd hot dog-transformation schemes and characters lampshading plot conveniences with fourth-wall-breaking comments - it never transcends these same clichés. Instead, the game seems content to simply point at its narrative shortcuts like a child pointing at their own mess and expecting applause. This meta-commentary feels less like clever subversion and more like an excuse to avoid deeper storytelling.
The platforming mechanics are well-implemented and smooth - and stop me if you've heard this one before - presenting a dazzling first impression. The game introduces various "buddies" that suggest exciting gameplay possibilities, but you already know where this is going. Like everything else, these additions feel more like variations on existing mechanics rather than meaningful evolutions of the core gameplay. While competently designed, the gameplay shows exactly the same depth as everything else.
For players looking for a light, visually pleasant platforming experience, there's certainly enjoyment to be found here, specially considering it often goes on 80% discount sales. I will definitely keep this one in mind for when my son is a little older! However, take this recommendation with an 80% discount - those expecting more will find this highly polished surface is all there is to it.
