Force Admiral Vol.1: American Carrier Battles is a single-player experience centered on the command of an early Pacific War US Navy carrier task force. As the overall commander, you are in charge of seeking the destruction of the enemy naval forces and preventing your opponent, the Japanese Navy, from accomplishing its objectives. To achieve your aims, you have at your disposal the most fearsome sea projection weapon known to Man in 1942: your carrier air groups and the task forces that support them.
As a carrier task force admiral in this pioneering age of air/naval warfare, assume the mantle of retribution in this innovative interpretation of a classic topic, as the first title in a new series that will further explore and develop the genre. Forget about the limitations of the past, and let the best of wargaming and simulation blend and blossom together in this new take on command at sea! Re-live the great battles of the first year of the Pacific War as if you were there yourself. In here there is no dice roll, no artificial skill-tree, no arbitrary stats, selective fog of war or supernatural crystal-clear communications. It is real-time crisis management for you, realism and historicity without concession, as little abstraction as can be, and loads of action, suspense and refreshing gameplay packed in the same single computer software.

Task Force Admiral – A Love Letter to Carrier Warfare
Task Force Admiral immediately stands out as a project made with genuine passion and deep respect for historical authenticity. The level of detail is remarkable - every system, indicator, and mechanic feels carefully thought out, as if the developers truly love what they are building.
Visually, the game is stunning and exceptionally well optimized. Watching enemy aircraft attack from the carrier deck, or diving in first-person view as the last bomber in a strike group toward an enemy carrier, creates truly cinematic moments that few games in the genre can match. Despite this, the game runs flawlessly and weighs only 8 GB, which is honestly impressive (tested on Ryzen 7 7700 / RX 7800 XT / 32 GB RAM).
The depth of control and planning is another major strength. You can manage and coordinate your forces in great detail, plan strikes, react to changing battlefield conditions, and adapt to randomized mission events. For example, in the Coral Sea scenario, the enemy carrier group may aggressively push forward - or unexpectedly retreat into the protection zone of land-based bombers, forcing you to rethink your strategy.
There is a short introductory guide covering the basics of carrier operations, and most buttons and indicators include helpful descriptions.
That said, the game is not without its weaknesses - most of which feel natural for Early Access. There is no “easy” or interactive tutorial format: learning relies heavily on PDF manuals or basic Steam articles. A dedicated training mission with dummy targets and a narrator explaining what is happening would significantly improve onboarding.
Some UI elements also need refinement: the takeoff/landing timeline lacks clarity, target selection in the 3D view can be awkward, and graphical settings are minimal (no anti-aliasing or advanced options beyond resolution). AI behavior occasionally raises questions, fleet order management menu is unintuitive - ships tend to line up and overlap when repositioning and time acceleration becomes unstable beyond x40.
Content is currently limited as well: in its present Early Access state, replayability is essentially confined to 2,5 missions.
Despite all this, my overall impression is overwhelmingly positive. Yes, the current version may feel expensive for the amount of content available, but the craftsmanship, attention to detail, and obvious developer dedication completely won me over. I’ve reached the point where I half-jokingly identify myself as USS Lexington, and I genuinely look forward to seeing this project grow.
Task Force Admiral shows immense potential, and I truly hope the developers continue refining and expanding it. This is something special.
