TAISHO x ALICE episode 1
DUALICE(TAISHO x ALICE episodeI) is a fairytale visual novel in which YOU must save your Prince Charming!
The game is fully voiced in Japanese (excluding the main character).
As you progress through the story, you will be asked to make choices at key points that will lead you to different endings. You will take on the role of the fairytale heroine in order to rehabilitate your chosen love interest and guide him to his “happily ever after”!
At the end of the prologue, you will choose your prince and enter the Looking-Glass World. Each love interest has his own standalone story set in an alternate universe where the relationships between the characters will vary.
*Episode 1 features two love interests: Cinderella and Red Riding Hood.
[STORY]
Once upon a time, in a topsy-turvy world…
In the beginning, you find yourself lost within a world of utter darkness. Your memories are gone; even your name is a mystery.
But just when the bitter loneliness threatens to break your spirit, you meet Alice—a blond-haired, blue-eyed young man who promptly christens you “Arisu.”
Like you, Alice cannot remember anything beyond his own name. Ignoring his protests, you drag him along with you through the darkness… until you happen upon a massive mirror made of crystal.
You stumble through the glass and into the Looking-Glass World, an antiquated fairytale dreamscape that feels oddly familiar…
There, amid a colorful cast of gender-swapped fairytale characters, you take on the role of the heroine and join them in their twisted tales.
How will the story end? It’s up to you!
ONCE UPON A TIME, your parents arrange a marriage between you and a man named Cinderella.
But there’s no way you’re marrying a guy you’ve never met! So you sneak over to his cafe to spy on him… only for him and his brothers to mistake you for a beggar and give you a job you didn’t even know you wanted!
From now on, you’ll live under the same roof as your potential future husband, all while he has no idea of your true identity. Will his love blossom before the clock strikes twelve?
ONCE UPON A TIME, you receive a threatening letter in the mail from someone identified only as “The Wolf.” Thankfully, Officer Red Riding Hood has come to your rescue! Except… he wants to keep you under 24-hour surveillance?!
It’s just the two of you, all alone in your mansion. But how can you romance Officer Handsome when he keeps you at arm’s length?
And who is “The Wolf,” anyway? You’ll need to work together to solve the case—and perhaps you’ll melt his frosty exterior along the way!

I'll start this with a quote form the game:
"Why do you think princesses get kidnapped so often? Because they're frail? Because they have some kind of special power? No. They exist to enable the male character to be the hero."
If I wouldn't have liked this game so far, this one alone would me make fall in love with it. Its aware. THANK YOU. Normally otome heroines are so FRICKIN BORING. Like an empty piece of paper in the wind. This one is not. She has a personality, shes proactive, witty, smart and friendly. I LOVE the dialogues, they are just too funny. Given that, I came for the romance, I stayed for the humor (well, AND the romance). I think it could have a little more romance, it just starts half the way through, and the routes are not short. However the writing is that good, that even with the lack of romance in the first half, I had a blast. It was so good, that I wanted to share it with my (male) friend and streamed it, and we laughed our ass of. He even considered buying, despite his utter lack of interest in the romance-the-boys part (its probably helpful that he has no frail masculinity).
All in all, I can highly recommend this game, its got long routes, good dialogue, humor, self-awareness, voice acting and a MC with a personality.

If you overthink the morality of the actions of some of the participants of the story, you may dislike the game. Still, keep in mind it is based on fairy tales, and they were often dark. Some disliked the plot of the 2nd char run, and I can understand why, but I liked it too because I am easy to get into make believe worlds.
Overall, I enjoyed my 14 hours with the 2 stories, though I did not fully understand the meaning of the into even at the end, lol.
I loved the visuals, the heroine was active and interesting, not boring or stereotype, and I enjoyed how they made fairy tale characters into these two stories. Great visuals and a really good japanese voice actors.
Rating: 8/10

What a good ride this game was~
With Taisho x Alice episode 1 you get an about 11 hour otome game with two complete routes full of comedy, romance and curious foreshadowing! Eventhough it's called "Episode 1" it can stand on it's own.
What I loved the most about this game was the way the routes would play with their respective fairytale. Some twists I could see coming, others caugth me compeletly off-guard! The routes feel like fairytales with their own spin.
I haven't played the other Episodes but from what I have heard the overarching story will be more in focus. I REALLY hope I can get to play them in english as well! (So please if you are interested in this game buy it and don't wait for the other episodes to come out. That would be a death sentence for the other episodes.)
I would recommend Taisho x Alice Episode 1 to anyone who likes romance, who wants a good laugth, wants to support quality localisations and who wants to see a proactive, hilarious, female protagonist in action!
