Sword and Fairy 7 is my first foray into Wuxia, and what an introduction it has been.
The soundtrack is utterly soothing, with just the right touch of wistful melancholy. The landscapes are nothing short of magnificent, sweeping, grandiose and beautifully realised. The combat is wonderfully fluid, the story refreshingly original, and the characters so thoroughly endearing that it's difficult not to become rather attached to them.
The cinematics are simply splendid. There is something immensely satisfying about watching those beautifully choreographed battles unfold with such style and flair.
Quite frankly, it's an absolute revelation. This is precisely the sort of game that deserves far greater recognition in the West. We really ought to have more Wuxia titles making their way across the pond.
As for the DLC, it is an absolute must-have. It was a genuine pleasure to encounter some familiar faces again.
