Sven’s SudokuPad finally lets you play your own Sudoku puzzles in the same app as used by Cracking the Cryptic in their videos. Created by Sven, the same developer who has created and improved the Cracking The Cryptic Sudoku webapp over the past year.
It also includes a few brand new classic Sudokus created by Simon and Mark exclusively for Sven’s SudokuPad.

game designed for experts to properly notate their insanely hard puzzles to be able to solve, decent user interface, but I'd like the ability to have crosshairs/highlighting on number selection. guess you can't make it too easy /shrug

Mark and Simon are great guys. Love this sudoku platform. Don't use it all that often just because doing the puzzles on Chrome works just fine and importing them to the app is an extra step you don't need. I do like showing off my sudoku hours though

I love this SudokuPad! You don't need it to play the CTC sudoku puzzles, there's an online version that's free. But for the price, I was happy to get the Desktop app. It came with some interesting classic Sudoku puzzles and also lets me save any imported puzzles.

Sven's SudokuPad is exactly the tool I wanted it to be. I wanted a way to play my physical Sudoku puzzles without risk of tearing the paper with an eraser or making the numbers illegible, as tends to happen with my handwriting. The program is somewhat intuitive, though there were a few things that I got stuck on (and none of them were puzzles). For example, I had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to re-name a puzzle that had already been saved. I did stumble across the answer to that problem, but it was no thanks to the community discussions. (For those of you who have the same problem, click on the saved puzzle, click the pencil icon, then hit the save button at the top of the screen and you'll be able to re-name it. A warning, however; if you re-name a puzzle that you've already completed or are partway through completion will reset all your progress on the puzzle. If you've beaten it, your best time will still be visible, but all your filled-in numbers will be gone.) Other than that issue, there are some quality of life improvements that could be made, but the way the program is set up, it feels very similar to how solving Sudoku on paper feels, just with a much better eraser.
In the end I can recommend Sven's SudokuPad to any Sudoku enthusiasts like myself, It might be a good onboarding tool to get people just starting with Sudoku into the hobby. To all else, there is little of interest in this program.
