Surviving Mars

Welcome Home! The time has come to stake your claim on the Red Planet and build the first functioning human colonies on Mars! All you need are supplies, oxygen, decades of training, experience with sandstorms, and a can-do attitude to discover the purpose of those weird black cubes that appeared out of nowhere. With a bit of sprucing up, this place is going to be awesome! Surviving Mars is a sci-fi city builder all about colonizing Mars and surviving the process. Choose a space agency for resources and financial support before determining a location for your colony. Build domes and infrastructure, research new possibilities and utilize drones to unlock more elaborate ways to shape and expand your settlement. Cultivate your own food, mine minerals or just relax by the bar after a hard day’s work. Most important of all, though, is keeping your colonists alive. Not an easy task on a strange new planet.

Nice game to play with difficulty settings tuned to a playable level. Not bad if under 30€.
As in most games of this type the repairs needed are retardedly frequent and cost a lot of hard to make materials.
You can disable the equipments stopping working whithout maintenance but they still require maintenance. The amount of people needed to operate everything at full capacity is really high and you need to really count the living and working spots accurately. All facilities have two day shifts you need to fill and one night shift that can be used but its bad for the people working it, so disabled by default.
Drones range is too low, the mobile drone base is also low range and you constantly need to reposition it.
Not very much population increments due to births, most population will come in rockets from earth.
Some resources and facilities are locked behind techs that need long time to develop. Still havent seen the full tech tree after 3 games.
The power lines interfere with dome connecting passages and other stuff and its retarded and very bad design option since it makes connecting neighboring domes very complicated. There should be and option to connect the doors from one dome to the adjacent one, but you cant and need to build a stupid passage from inside one dome to inside the next one, wasting one buildable hex on each and also negating the possibility of building a big facility on that segment of the dome since all big buildings need the full chunk of terrain to be built.
Power lines should be able to be built underground or pass underneath other surface buildings.
Terrain manipulation is not very well done, possible but annoying and complicated.
Resources from mines are scarce and very low amounts on each deposit. Mines last really not very long before exhausting the deposit.
There is a small cheat option that fills one resource depot every day, the first one you build, so you can have some resources to do stuff instead of requesting a cargo rocket and waiting a few minutes for it to arrive.
The base game rules regarding to disasters are not very well balanced and you can get a meteor storm that lasts a fucking year landing rocks the size of a van on every dome every 20 seconds ruining several hours of base design and building, breaking half the facilities and killing half the people due to lack of air.
Apart from those retarded disasters designed by a fucktard, which you can turn off in exchange for not having achievements, the game is not bad. You can tune the difficulty to a cozy casual level.
Due to the occasional meteor activity and giant dust storms, any colony on Mars should be built in caves or with reallly good protection/walls. Plastic semi spherical domes dont seem to be a realistic option in a place that rains rocks every now and then, and there is no mechanics for underground building.
