The last days of man are at hand.. Two years after the Infinite War the once great warring nations now lie in ruins, and humanity’s hope for a brighter future is nothing but a bitter memory. A new, seemingly unstoppable enemy, supported by the zealots of The Order, now seeks to eradicate mankind: UEF, Aeon Loyalist, and Cybran alike. With their backs against the wall and staring into the abyss, the tattered remnants of Humanity’s forces must put aside old hatreds and band together as they prepare to make one last desperate stand. One last chance. An alliance forged in blood, steel and hope, they turn to face the dark.
Key Features:
- New Playable Faction: A completely new playable faction will be available in multiplayer games and serve as the main threat during the new single-player campaign. This new threat is a cunning and devious race with advanced technology and are true masters of quantum technology. New weapons, new strategies, new conquests!
- New Units: 110 new land, sea, air, base and experimental units evolve armies to address strategic weakness or become the ultimate expressions of factional military doctrine.
- Warfare on an Epic Scale: Fully realized navies, orbital weaponry and advanced counter intelligence technologies give commanders unprecedented, deadly new capabilities in what is already the most strategic RTS on the market today.
- New Multiplayer Maps: New multiplayer battlefields provide new grounds for players to prove their supremacy.
- New Single Player Campaign: Play through a brand new single player campaign as you gather your forces to save mankind from extinction.

If you're wondering at the the positive reviews combined with low playtime hours, it's because the majority of players are hanging out on the Forged Alliance Forever Forever (FAF) modded community servers, which have continued to keep the performance and gameplay relevant decades later.
The base game is decent, a campaign probably worth doing once, and has some innovative ideas... but you can do all that and more on FAF, with modern improvements, and optional coop. A mod that's not only better but has a greater playerbase than the base game, AND active development, AND isn't fractured into a dozen splinter projects... is highly unusual, to say the least.
As far as competiveness goes, it's one of the few games that I enjoy more often than not even when losing. There are a variety of hail mary tactics that let you bow out of a match early while (probably) helping the team, and people frequently spectate after dying to enjoy the show or even help out by analyzing the ongoing battle.
There's a reason there are multiple youtube channels, to this day, that feature weekly if not daily casts of FAF games. If you watch any of those videos, some of the things that make FAF special will become obvious very quickly. I've also enjoyed Starcraft II casts, but despite the impressive (and flashy) micro skills shown, it doesn't compare to the tactical variety or strategic depth of FAF.
I'd like to go on, but I won't bore you with walls of text. If you are still on the fence, watch a replay. Just bear in mind that most people aren't pros - the player base is large enough to accommodate regular joes and noobs, especially on weekends.

Game was released in 2007. 17 years later still has working networking code, dual monitor support and runs on monitors whose resolution and aspect ratio had yet to be imagined.
Still Good fun

Still the best in 2025.
Still waiting for that replacement game so I can shelf Supcom.
At this rate, if it happens before 2050, it will be a miracle.

If you like to come home and rage at your computer after a long day of working for the man, spend an hour building up the perfect base, then listen to your friend cackle as your team's AI tells you that there's a "strategic launch detected", then watch all your hard work go up in atomized flames as you rage quit the game and rip your hair out, then this is the game for you.

i grew up playing this game, i am highly nostalgic for it and i absolutely love it, wish they would make a third supreme commander back in this art-style or a remaster would be fine. 10/10
