Sunset Overdrive

This game is a perfect example for the phrase "Do not jugde a book by its cover."
Why? Because Jetset Overdrive looks basically like the cringiest, unfunniest jank you could ever imagine. I wouldn´t blame you for thinking this was a DEI infested nightmare but in reality, this game f*cks. And it f*cks H A R D.
Story:
Remember when The Last of Us had a pretty cool and unique origin for its zombies? I´m talking the Cordyzeps, a mushroom that actually exists (but only grows on ants so don´t you dare hording toilet paper again).
Well, in Sunrise Hyperdrive, the apocalypse was started by an Energy drink. Literal Monster Energy if you will.
Yes, i am not making this up. There was a drink that did to the peoples endocrine system what Homelander did to that one plane: Completely f*cking it up and leaving a trail of corpses behind.
Red Bull fueled Monsters are now ravaging the city and you have to survive the whole mess. And if you still think this game is a dead serious apocalypse story (despite this entire Energy Drink thing), i gotta tell you, we´re almost reaching Yakuza 4 levels of unseriousness here.
For instance: The whole mutation side effect of the drink was not even a secret experiment or some shit, it was simply impatient investors bringing an untested product on the market. Good thing that shit won´t happen in reallife... Right?
Also, the humor is pretty great. But i don´t wanna spoil that for you, you have to experience this for yourself.
Gameplay:
What kind of game would you think this is? Saints Row? Makes sense, but it looks more like Borderlands, doesn´t it? Well, whoever guessed that is absolutely f*cking wrong, because this game is Tony Hawks Pro Skater meets Doom Eternal.
Let´s just say that you barely stand still and if you do, you die faster than during your first Capra Demon encounter in Dark Souls (f*ck this guy btw).
There´s no sprinting, instead you´re grinding on almost everything. Don´t worry, the entire map was designed around this concept, there´s not a single place where grinding isn´t possible. And while you do that, you take out hordes of peaceful proteste- i mean Monsters whith some of the best weapons in the history of gaming included but not limited to:
-A fire shotgun with testicles
-A weaponized record player
and
-A Bowling Ball launcher (shut up, Roman Bellic)
Also, there´s a f*ckton of upgrades that aren´t locked to any challenge missions but rather level up by simply playing in your specific style. It´s amazing how much this game does right.
All in all, in a time where every game pretends to be a hollywood production, Sunset Overdose actually shoves all this triple A nonsense aside and just delivers a fun game. No Microtransactions, no controversial story to subvert expectations, no cringey millenial humor. This game is what more videogames should aim to be.
DRINK OVERCHARGE OR I COME TO YOUR HOUSE/10

It is way better than expected and does not take itself too serious. Fun movement, solid gunplay and arsenal.

Wenn doch nur mehr Spiele so wie dieses hier wären, aber heutzutage sind Games low effort, hingerotzt und die Hälfte des Games hinter einer Pay Wall. Sunset Overdrive ist ein 9,5/10 Game, nice Movements und Combat, viele verschiedene Waffen und Outfits (ohne extra rl Geld zahlen zu müssen), schöne Welt usw. Schade, dass nie Part 2 gekommen ist.

Bekloppter bzw. abgedrehter Mix aus Dying Light und (vor allem) Saints Row.
Irgendwie ziemlich sinnlos, aber für zwischendurch und im Sale ganz okay und witzig ; )

Story gut, Steuerung gut, Grafik gut, Das spiel ist Überraschend gut :-)
Eigentlich sogar ziemlich sehr gut ;-)
