At first, Stormshot is heavy on the advertised Sharpshooter segments, where you try to shoot a pirate or save a hostage with fancy trick shots. Eventually, the game is mostly about upgrading your things and attacking "threats". NOTE: You can't "win" the game--top players pay $10K regularly--just enjoy it. Level 39 is the highest FTP level; level 40 will clean your clock. Apparently this is a reskin of another game, Guns of Glory. Within a frame story about landing your ship on an island full of ghost pirates from Atlantis, you are building out an estate, with armies, buildings, mining resources, researching, managing heroes -- everything needs to be leveled up, constantly, to improve something by 1%. You join an alliance. Other players can attack and sort-of-destroy your estate while you sleep at night. This manifests as looted resources (which your allies will replace) and soldier casualties (which you can mostly cure, but complete recovery could take days). Each level up increases the time and resources to build, so eventually...giant time suck? Also, your lord runs out of stamina to fight the threats. But like many free-to-play games, you can buy speedups, revival, resources, power and prestige with real money, so it could become a giant money suck instead? (Pay to win!) But F2P players don't need to buy those things -- earning them is not hard. And unlike old F2P games like Evony, there are many aspects and mini-games -- quests, ghost pirates, mermaids, heroes, airships, battles, puzzles, gear, holiday themes, as well as a zillion KINDS of upgrade. If your alliance is active, there are alliance-level competitions--but many players quit after a few days or weeks, leaving their alliances fairly dead and dull. So move to another alliance. You might train yourself to click on anything with a red dot, to get free stuff. No in-game control to exit? Just close the window, or ALT-TAB back to Steam to click STOP.

"Stormshot, a thunderous mix of excitement and frustration, outshines its rivals in explosive gameplay."

Feeling like a duck in a hurricane with Stormshot! Graphics so sharp, they could slice a virtual tomato. Storyline? More convoluted than my ex's lies. Still, the chaotic fun is worth the mental gymnastics!

Drawing parallels to classics like Call of Duty, Stormshot impresses with its tactical gameplay and stunning graphics. However, it falls short in providing a compelling narrative, a feature its genre counterparts excel at.

Two things can be true at the same time:
The marketing is scummy. The advertisements don't show what the game is about.
The gameplay is Not bad!, regular strategy a'la civ3, only online...
Regular guild v guild stuff; nothing entirely new, just regular stuff, with armies and such.
Glitches: yes there are some glitches, oftentimes when you try to see what a rally's details are, it will glitch and require a re-launch to fix itself.
Also, on PC, there is a game launcher to accomodate this game not being a proper PC application but some half-assed emulation thing... that itself glitches after a few days without rebooting; it'll fail to launch and only fix itself after you do a reboot.
All in all the F2P elements are the usual fair: too many popups, nothing new here, you're either used to it by this point -or- you just don't tolerate it and don't bother with this.
That's my two cents.

This game, Stormshot, is like if Picasso painted a hurricane – visually impressive, but leaves you spinning in confusion.
