Verdict: An excellent turn-based steampunk RPG. Recommended with no issue
+ Positives +
+ Steam trading cards (5 drop, 9 to make a badge)
+ Steam achievements (47, requires The Outside DLC and playing on the hardest difficuilty)
+ Solid thematic soundtrack
+ Still looks great thanks to the drawing style
+ Responsive controls
+ Ricochet mechanics are quite fun to play with
+ A lot of weapons and items
+ 10 characters to play with, each with some unique gimmicks
+ Easy to get into
- Negatives -
- The story is all over the place and there are just flashes of it
- RNG layout can screw the hell out of you, especially on challenge missions
- Farming rare hats for achievements is a pain
- Character progression is slow and often doesn't feel rewarding enough (level-ups are often +1 hp or +1 speed)
- No narration outside of 5 cutscenes
+/- Notes
+/- Copy paste of saves really helps with getting the Gold rating achievements
+/- Same menu quits as that restarts the turn

this is my second time playing the game, the first time was on my 3DS.
the game is just as incredibly fun as I remember it being, and it remains one of my favorite games in its genre to this day.
Also music by steam powered giraffe is FANTASTIC.

I bought this on sale, thinking it was just some goofy game I can play to kill time UNTIL I played it and it was awesome. I got invested in the game's story, it's really nice.

XCOM, but 2D. Actually very good, enjoyed it a lot.
Gameplay is very fun, characters are varied and enjoyable.
Move to place, take aim and shoot. Fun to get trick shots.
Several characters to choose from, missions have different team limits from 1 to 4 different characters.
Every character has a slightly different play style, usually focusing on two of three points: movement, damage and health.
Leveling them takes a while, but there are solo missions made just for leveling.
Difficulty was ok, had some defeats now and then, but usually due poor decisions.
Bosses can get a bit unfair if you don't rush them though.
I'd say it has the perfect game length, but its also very repetitive.
Every mission is a variation of "go here, kill things".
Bosses can be a bit annoying, with a combo of spamming turrets, spawning units and insane trick shots.
Limited inventory space is lame and so is requiring to grind for money to get some weapons that I never got as a random drop.
You can replay missions to get more items, but the guaranteed rare ones are one time rewards.
Story is very basic and goes by rather fast, isn't as elaborate as SteamWorld Dig was.
Kill someone that is bothering you. Kill someone else that is bothering you. Kill this guy that we accidentaly let escape that will bother everyone.
Overall, recommended. Might have to get the sequel.

Like tactics? Like shooting robots? Like geometry? This is the game for you!
It's charming, it's fun, it has a good range of difficulties, it doesn't overstep its bounds or try to do too much, and it wraps up before becoming stale.
