SteamWorld Heist

Unlike typical tactics games where luck often plays a role, this game puts you in full control of every shot, adding a satisfying level of skill-based gameplay.
The vertical level design and different characters featuring their own unique abilities and passive traits, allow for a multitude of tactical approaches.
The feeling of accomplishment and progression is also incredibly well made. Based on the performance upon successfully completing a stage, characters are leveled up, and players are treated with new weapons and materials.
Besides its engaging gameplay mechanics, SteamWorld Heist offers players a vibrant steampunk aesthetic, boosty hats and a decent plot creating an immersive and enjoyable experience from start to finish.

One of my all-time faves. Incredible game.
Elite difficulty was really well balanced (not too hard, but not too easy). Some missions took dozens of tries such as the Red Queen battle and the one where you have to survive 10 turns with an endless wave of enemies spawning and teleporting everywhere. However, although tough, every single attempt was fun and rewarding even after 20+ deaths. Very rare for a game to still remain fun after that many failed attempts. Will buy the sequel on day one.

Refreshing game
I loved the timeless aesthetic and the "Firefly"-style steam-punk universe. The music is excellent, alternating between saloon songs and sci-fi themes. The sound design is very good, and the gameplay is accessible and fun (though not simplistic). Very GG :)

This game has been such a treat so far.
It’s a 2D turn based game very much inspired by games like XCom that just take outs much of the RNG elements that the genre has and just says “Aight ok the RNG is YOUR aim”.
Also if you are a fan of Worms the combat turns are basically like that, and you can personalize everything from your crew, their load outs, weapons and even their hats :3
Very cool game, very much excited for the sequel later this year.

Another great game from the Steamworld series. Heist is a tactical 2D turn-based RPG with manual aiming and plenty of different characters to play with. New abilities for each character are unlocked when they level up and you can find new weapons and equipment in stores or by collecting crates in each level. Most of the levels are random generated, and while the objectives could have used a bit more variation, the gameplay is so much fun that this game is a blast to finish. Very recommended!

It is a fun indie turn-based tactics game. A little bit repetitive to the end and the ricochet system is underused. But all in all it is a great addition to the genre

Imagine Worms, but XCOM, but also very unique

It's casual enough to play after work, but in depth enough to not feel cheap - it's truly a gem ❤️ a game made with love for people to have fun, we don't get many of those nowadays

Can't wait to get the sequel!
