You’ve inherited a spaceship! But there’s one or two teeny tiny little problems…. It’s a bit of a fixer upper. It has a bad reputation. Government agents seem to take a strange interest. Also, it appears to be haunted. Aside from that, it’s your cozy new home!
Starwisp Hyperdrive is a space RPG adventure that’s more about the journey than the destination.
- Choose your destination! Hopefully you have enough fuel to get where you want to go.
- If not you might want to visit a trader… before you leave port, of course.
- Name and create your character!
- Travel through space and explore the system!
- Take on jobs at various spaceports!
- Fix your ship and try not to die alone in space!
- Grow alien plants in the botany room!
- Fly to asteroids and mine stuff!
- Conduct inadvisable experiments!
- Bond with your robot buddies! As in, you can bond… but the robot is an unfeeling machine.
- Fix your broken machine parts and robots! Or scrap them, if you want. You monster.
- Experience space depression!
- Rearrange your cargo bay!
- Talk to random weirdos! (Interactive dialogue! Meaningful choices!)
And many more!

Although this game is tagged as "RPG" and "Adventure" it is more of a cozy life sim set in space. I enjoyed my time playing it but, as it is Early Access, there is very little content and plenty of bugs. I was able to do the main story (if you could consider it that) in less than five hours and afterwards there is nothing but repeating delivery quests. However, this game has immense potential and as I went through it I saw many placeholders for future content which got me excited for what this game may become. I could begin listing things I would like to see added in the game but I have a feeling the devs already have the same ideas and it is just a matter of time and work. I am giving this game a Thumbs Up for the concept and the potential it has but, as an early access game, it feels more like a technical demo than an actual game. That being said I'm not sure if it is currently worth it's asking price. I hope the developers stick with it and turn it into the amazing experience it could become.

So I like the potential of the game, it seems cool and well thought out, however it needs a better tutorial and male character models. I picked he him and still gotta small boobed girl no matter which way I played with the customization.
But I'll definitely keep it and hope they keep improving on it.

The game is excellent bones for a great game in the future.
Right now the game has some stuff to do but a lot of it is hit button & wait.
You have to walk everywhere which isn't bad but is time consuming.
There are no directions and the map doesn't really help so finding things means just wandering around to find it.
The farming function has no explanations of how it works and I can't find any help online.
Over all it sounds like I am being quite down on this game but honestly I love the idea and the bones are great but it is clearly not done is all.
I AM hoping there will be more customisation of the ship & outfits.

Objects in Space was the first great space came from Australia. It promised great things, came through on some of them, but then the developers gave up. If you are (like me) still mourning its demise then rejoice!
Starwisp Hyperdrive feels like the spiritual successor (with some added Ostranaught DNA). It also comes from a land down under. It also has numerous ship systems that frequently need repairing. And it promises a great deal still to come.
I do hope so. I do wish the developers every success and hope they will stick with this for longer than their predecessors.
The game is in EA, with all that is implied by that - bugs, missing content, QoL. But it is already an interesting experience.

Version 0.1.10 Review:
This is a typical cozy sim where you live life. in Starwisp Hyperdrive, you fly your ship around and make deliveries, You also land at locations, get in your shuttle and hunt down asteroids, and there is potential for combat, although I didn't see any in the first 2.5 hours. Changing clothes, eating, showering and just checking on your ship systems for any changes/damage that needs attention while your ship makes its way to your next chosen destination is your time typically spent.
It occupied a few hours of my time to visit 4 of the 5 locations and fiddle with the ship.
Currently there is no tutorial but almost everything I was able to figure out just by playing with it.
It also was a bit on the quiet side, (not much background music or sound effects for text readouts) and a few visible bugs, but I expected as much being a early access version and I'll be excited to come back for more.

I've been looking at this for a while and decided to go ahead and get it and I'm glad I did. I have 70 min. in it so far and if they do what they have planed it's going to be very good. The biggest problem I'm having now is finding my way around the ship. The store page gives you no idea as to how big the ship is. It's very simple. About the only keys you need are the WASD and C. C interaction key but I wish it was the F key. Some games I have use the F key and I think it is easier to use. Shift toggles run and walk. It's kind of a niche game and may be a little slow for the run and gun crowed. My recommendation is, if it sounds like something you would be interested in, get it.
