Star Ocean: The Last Hope ist ein klassisches JRPG mit starkem Fokus auf Echtzeit-Kämpfe und umfangreiche Systeme.
Das Kampfsystem ist dynamisch, schnell und belohnt gutes Positioning sowie Timing. Im Vergleich zu vielen rundenbasierten JRPGs fühlt sich der Kampf deutlich aktiver an. Die Vielzahl an Fähigkeiten und Charakteren sorgt für taktische Tiefe.
Story und Charaktere sind typisch JRPG: umfangreich, stellenweise überzeichnet und nicht immer subtil. Wer mit Anime-typischem Stil und Dialogen nichts anfangen kann, wird hier eher Probleme haben.
Technisch ist das Spiel solide, aber sichtbar älter. Menüs und Präsentation wirken teilweise sperrig, dafür bietet das Spiel sehr viel Content, Crafting-Systeme und optionale Herausforderungen.
Fazit:
Star Ocean: The Last Hope ist kein modernes JRPG, aber ein umfangreiches und mechanisch starkes Spiel für Fans klassischer japanischer Rollenspiele mit Echtzeit-Kämpfen.

Spiel ist anspruchsvoll, macht allerdings auch viel Spaß und das beste man bekommt viel für sein Geld (ca. 100 Spielstunden). RPG vom Feinsten, ist ja auch Square-Enix, da hab ich es auch erwartet. Wer Final Fantasy mag, der mag das Spiel hier auch, denke ich.
