I really didn't expect to find a secret new Squid Game season on Steam.
This game brings us the familiar gameplay from the series, but with one major twist—instead of a tough guy, a naked girl will be going through the challenges.
Each level can be beaten in just a couple of tries, unlocking a gallery with... plenty to see. The artwork is quite nice, even if there aren't too many scenes.
If you're also a fan of the show and ever wanted to try these challenges yourself, you should definitely check this game out.
If you read the review and liked it, don't forget to give it a thumbsup;)The further - The better♥️

SQUID GIRLS 18+ is an intentionally eccentric, adult-oriented visual novel that blends romance, comedy, and lighthearted absurdity into a deliberately self-aware package. Developed by Squid Developer and published by BanzaiProject, the game doesn’t hide what it is—its premise, character designs, and tone fully embrace playful fantasy rather than aiming for realism or emotional heaviness. The narrative revolves around interactions with humanoid squid girls, using the concept as both comedic fuel and thematic framing rather than attempting to justify it through lore or science fiction worldbuilding. The writing leans into silliness, flirtation, and exaggerated character personalities, often poking fun at genre conventions and anime-inspired tropes. It’s meant to entertain more than provoke deep reflection, functioning as a casual escape for players who enjoy light romance blended with surreal humor.
Gameplay follows the familiar rhythm of visual novel storytelling. Players progress through branching dialogue, building relationships through choices that shape the tone and direction of each route. While character arcs aren’t elaborate, they reflect distinct traits, quirks, insecurities, and comedic setups that help differentiate one squid girl from another. The choice system encourages multiple playthroughs to experience different interactions and endings, and the game offers a manageable length that makes replaying routes feel natural rather than overwhelming. The pacing is brisk, avoiding long stretches of exposition and instead focusing on snappy exchanges, situational comedy, and flirtatious encounters. It’s accessible for both genre newcomers and seasoned visual novel players looking for something light.
The visual presentation is one of the game’s main selling points. Character illustrations are expressive, colorful, and stylized to highlight personality and fantasy appeal. Animation and transitions are minimal but clean, maintaining clarity and polish throughout dialogue segments. Background art complements the tone—bright, playful, and designed to support the mood of each scene rather than compete with character portraits. The UI is simple, readable, and easy to navigate, keeping the focus on interaction and character expression. The audio design reinforces this upbeat identity, with cheerful background tracks and sound cues that accompany emotional beats or comedic moments. Nothing feels overly dramatic or oppressive; the mood stays consistently light and inviting.
Because this is an adult visual novel, intimacy is part of the experience, but it is framed with humor, exaggeration, and fantasy rather than realism or explicit storytelling ambition. The tone leans more toward playful fanservice than intense emotional romance, which helps set correct expectations for players. It’s not attempting to deliver a grounded coming-of-age story or layered psychological exploration, but instead a cheeky, fantastical dating experience that doesn’t take itself too seriously. This creative direction gives the game freedom to be weird, charming, and unapologetically niche, which is likely to resonate with players who enjoy unconventional romantic settings.
However, its strengths also define its limitations. Players seeking deep character development, philosophical storytelling, complex worldbuilding, or mechanically rich gameplay will not find those elements here. The plot primarily exists to support flirtatious character interactions rather than craft a sweeping narrative, and emotional stakes remain intentionally low. Some jokes may feel repetitive depending on player humor preferences, and certain character archetypes may feel familiar to those who frequently play anime-inspired dating sims. The experience relies heavily on its visual appeal and comedic tone, meaning players uninterested in those aspects may lose interest quickly. That said, the game does not misrepresent itself—its marketing, title, and design make its intentions clear.
Ultimately, SQUID GIRLS 18+ succeeds because it commits fully to its identity. It doesn’t attempt to broaden its audience or mask its playful absurdity, and that creative honesty gives it charm. It offers a light, humorous, visually appealing romantic experience designed for players who appreciate quirky dating sims, fantasy character designs, and self-aware adult humor. It may not challenge the genre or redefine visual novel storytelling, but it delivers exactly what its premise promises—an amusing, flirtatious, and delightfully strange escapist experience built for those who enjoy its specific flavor of fantasy.
