I didn't expect to put this much time into the game because I'm not really into cozy farming games, yet this one really stretched it. Spiritfarer is not the best, yet a good game for relaxing evenings when you just want everything to slow down.
It surprised me how many different stories were told. Some of them really moved me, some of them were mysterious and left a lot to the imagination, some where too obscure or distant to build a connection to the characters you're supposed to say goodbye to soon. The music and the atmosphere were wonderful at every point though and added a lot of character to our guests and the islands we visited. The winter island's tracks were my favourite, I played them through many hours on the sea.The environmental design was full of love and detail and coziness. Made me want to move right in myself.
Sometimes there were some cases when I didn't know how to progress which happened as a consequence if you procrastinate to say goodbye to the guests. Kind of philosophical anyway, the necessity to let go so you can move on... Furthermore, in the second half of the game, the farming and selling became pointless quickly as you basically was hording more than you could ever spend. But maybe it's just me and my practical, resourceful thinking lol! For that reason, playing became somewhat boring between the quests.
The best thing for me was probably getting to hug everyone and learn about new dishes.
All in all it was a good experience, but i wished more balance regarding the resource management and also more opportunity to connect to the characters or learn about their life situation. This could have added more layers for the personal imagination as well as what you could learn from them.
Spoilery review of the personally most impactful guests: Stanley I will miss the most. Your playfulness and energy made me so happy! You deserved a long life full of fries, sweets, mistakes and successes. Atul was so warm und cuddly, I was first really sad to realize he went all by himself without saying goodbye, but I figured it was his way to finally to something for himself once in his life. Buck, you made mundanity an adventure. Gustav, your vision on art I shared as well. I would have loved to talk to you irl. Jackie, I absolutely didn't like you, but reading what you left behind after you were gone made me cry so surprisingly much because you really were trying, even though it was already too late through all the damage, pain and death. But even though it was your end, you still tried to work through it, work through yourself, even though it didn't matter, yet it did really became a matter to you... It's never too late to try.

really like the neutral outfit of the protagonist and those powerful female characters.
absolutely recommend, but still think this game would be perfect without giovanni’s storyline
