I changed my rating to recommended after nearly 10 hours of frustrating gameplay. The bottom line here is that Sparkle 4, although good, is held back from being great but a few major factors. Firstly there isn't enough guidance, or instruction on what you are doing or why. It is extremely easy to get lost because this is an open world game that doesn't play like one. There are many gameplay elements that are simply not explained, and the narration that is provided is not nearly enough. You advance through collection of elements and completion of combat, something that is again, not explained properly. Through hard headed determination and a genuine like for this game and the others that came before it, I manged to get to the end, but... The bottom line is that the sound, music, gameplay, and graphics are top notch but the instructions and flow of play are terrible. You have to figure everything out on your own, and the game utterly wastes your time because of this. I could probably have completed it in half the time if proper instructions and guidance was included here. Overall if you enjoy a "zen type" style of gameplay, this is great. But be prepared for a headache if you haven't played the others in the series. Also, there are 20 totems despite the achievement and in-game help stating there are only 17.
